R35 GTR ECUTek Tuning by Visconti Now Available!

There is no denying that GTR is an excellent car. For the money, there are few other “supercars” that compare. With a twin-turbocharged engine, the GTR’s VR38DETT engine responds incredibly well to any modifications, which has led to a massive aftermarket. All the way at the top are billet aluminum engines making well over 2000whp; however, most of us are never going to take our car to that insane level. If you want some more power out of your GTR, then a simple ECU flash is the way to go. This adds power to your car by adjusting parameters such as boost levels, fuel, ignition timing, and more. There are a few options on the market currently, but for the price, ECUTek by Visconti is pretty hard to beat.

One of the cool parts of the ECUTek system is the Bluetooth connectivity. Once the OBD dongle has been plugged into the vehicle, you can connect to it with your phone to see everything going on with your engine. This is great for quickly monitoring everything after installing your new tune. Another cool feature of the ECUTek kit is the ability to run proven off-the-shelf maps, or have custom maps developed for your specific needs. Included with the engine tune is a transmission tune which significantly improves driveability while also improving shift times. If you’re looking to improve drivability, you install just the TCM tune and not an ECU tune, which is highly desirable for early R35s which didn’t have the best transmission characteristics.

Other very cool features are available, such as rolling launch control. Roll racing is incredibly popular, but most GTRs are at a huge disadvantage because they can’t brake boost. Well, they can brake boost; however, it’s incredibly harsh on the transmission and shouldn’t be done. The lack of brake boosting results in a relatively slow initial take off which can make-or-break the race. With rolling launch control, you can build boost while keeping the car at a steady speed, resulting in a way harder take-off, giving you the edge in a roll race.
