Aftermarket automotive electronics specialist Mods4cars has revamped the design of their SmartTOP convertible top controllers. Effective immediately is the redesigned kit for the Porsche Boxster 981, which comes with the new enclosure. With the SmartTOP installed, it is possible to open and close the top from a distance using the original factory remote fob. Press Release: Mods4cars has begun shipping their SmartTOP Convertible Top Controller module for the Porsche 981 Boxster equipped with the new product enclosure. One of the signature functions of the add-on kit is the ability to control the top from a distance by just using the factory key fob. The original fobs do not need to be modified or replaced.
Additionally owners can open or close the top, even while driving at slow speeds, with just the touch of a button. It is no longer necessary to hold down the switch for the duration of the operation. The driver gets to put both hands back on the wheel quickly.
The SmartTOP comes with a handful of bonus features that further add convenience: The windows can be controlled separately from the top by remote. It is possible to reduce the radio volume when starting the car and an extended mode can be activated which allows the engine to be started or stopped while an ongoing top operation continues. The entire module can be temporarily disabled while retaining all user settings for when it is re-enabled later.
All functions and settings can be programmed to individual taste. SmartTOP modules come with a built-in USB port for quick configuration and firmware updates via Mac or Windows PC. Mods4cars is invested in continually improving their products and always listens to customer input. Support software and firmware updates are available online, free of charge.
Now Mods4cars has optimized the hardware of the SmartTOP module as well. The exclusive, custom designed enclosures are 30% smaller and thereby allow installation in even tighter places in the car. Two LEDs show status information and aid during the installation.
