If you love Toyota and love off-roading, there is a pretty good chance you own an FJ Cruiser. It might not be as popular as the 4Runner, but it’s still an excellent platform for off-roading and overlanding. Unfortunately, it shares the same underpowered 4.0L V6 engine as the 4Runner.
In completely stock form, the FJ Cruiser is horribly underpowered, and with a lift, bigger tires, and off-road modifications, the problem only gets worse. You can re-gear the axles to help the FJ Cruiser accelerate quicker, but that’s just a bandaid for the real problem: lack of power.
