One of our customers from the GTR Life forum (@ernbu) recently purchased a set of WP Pro brake rotors and pads for his car. He explained to us that he has been tracking his GTR more and more, so James at Vivid Racing suggested he try the WP Pro big brake kit. This kit comes with all the hardware necessary for installation and is used with the OE calipers. This means that no shaving or modifications to the calipers will be required. The WP Pro BBK also comes with brake pads that were similar to the to the DTC60 pads that the customer was previously using. Details on the kit are as follows:
Front:
Rotor 400x34mm
Weight 10.92 kg
Directionally Vented
Forged Alloy Hats
Rear:
Rotor 385x30mm
Weight 10.72 kg
Directionally Vented
Forged Alloy Hats
Old Brake Setup vs. New Brake Setup
His final review on the WP brake setup:
“For the track I use DTC70s up front and DTC60s in the rear. If any of you run those DTC pads, you know they can be noisy for the daily driver, but on the track they are awesome. The WP supplied pads are nowhere as noisy as the DTC pads and provide plenty of stopping power.
WP does offer different pads for this setup, from street to full blown track pads, so you can specify when you order, which I think is awesome! I have also done about 20 logging runs, 25mph-110mph-25mph, and these pads never gave me any issues or made me lack confidence in their stopping power. The rotor themselves are well built and have a lot of vents for cooling.
Overall…
Conclusion:
-Great pads for street use
-Offer different pad compounds with this setup
-Great for light track use (no need to have different street/track pads)
-Little to no dust (compared to the DTC70/60)
-No noise
-Rotors are easy to install
-All required hardware included
-No modification required to the OE calipers
-The rotors are absolutely beautiful
I will be using the WP pads again at RD3 GTA Buttonwillow Raceway “Super Lap Battle”, so I’ll update my thoughts on them again.”
