VR Tuned M5 F90 Tuning Box Released!

Although there are some people out there who don’t like the M5, there is no denying that it has borderline supercar performance. The twin-turbo 4.4L V8 under the hood of the F90 is an evolution of the previous M5’s engine, and this time around it has new turbochargers which make 24.5 psi compared to 21.8 psi in the last M5. Outputting 600 horsepower and 553 ft-lbs of torque, most people would say that’s plenty of power. Enthusiasts always want more power, and thanks to BMWs use of new turbos, the F90 M5 has massive gains with a simple tuning box, as our tuning department, VR Tuned, found out.

In case you didn’t know, a tuning box takes the signal from engine sensors, and modifies them slightly before they’re sent to the ECU. With OEM style connectors, the VR Tuned tuning box is very easy to install, and our testing found massive gains of 147 PS (around 136 HP). Not only did our testing show massive gains in horsepower, but we also found torque gains of 125 Nm (92 ft-lbs) which will make your M5 a monster on the streets where torque is more important than peak power.

Aside from the awesome power gains, there are also significant improvements to fuel economy. Our testing showed around a 20% fuel savings in day to day use. One of the big benefits to a tuning box is how quickly it can be uninstalled. This is very important when you take your M5 in for warranty work, as an ECY that has been opened for a flash is an immediate flag to the dealer which ultimately will void your powertrain warranty if a situation arose.
Features:

  • Plug and Play for easy removal to avoid warranty issues
  • Harness has OEM style connectors, no splicing or cutting
  • Tuning Box features an aluminum weatherproof case
  • Installs in 5 – 45 minutes depending on vehicle
  • Proven power gains
