Driveline - Driveline and Transmission Performance Parts

Driveline and Transmissions Performance Parts

You've got the power!

But you haven't the proper tools to translate your engine's big horsepower to the pavement. What you need to do is upgrade your transmission.

Your transmission is your engine's partner in crime. Without a performance transmission, your expensive machine is just a noisemaker sitting in the garage. Vivid Racing carries transmissions and transmission parts that fit almost any need. If you already have a transmission that works ok, replacing the gear set, flywheel, and clutch, when you have upped the power of your engine, will transform your car from a factory slug to high performance, scorching road machine.

Since you now have a beefier clutch, the next bits you'll need are axles, a driveshaft, and a differential to drive your wheels hard and launch you off the line at a blistering pace. And for better off the line acceleration, don't forget to upgrade to lightweight wheels and stickier rubber, simply because your set of wheels (car) cannot move without a set of wheels (wheels).

Why Update and Improve Your Driveline?

Many automotive owners don't even understand what the driveline is, so they don't get a lot of attention. Your vehicle's driveline converts energy from the transmission and engine to the wheels. They are driveshaft, wheels, driveshaft, differential, and joints. These elements are responsible for the full power of your car. You're not heading anywhere without the driveline! So, we have to take proper care of that.

The driveline contains all the pieces that seize power from the engine and transfer it to the wheels that move your car or truck. This involves differential, wheel hubs, CV-joints and U-joints, transfer cases, driveshafts, and axles. Driveline components are usually robust and can last if the car is not abused, but if you hear rattling noises and scratching and feel the noise, you will need to test out our range of driveline replacement parts.

Driveshafts deliver power from the transmission to the axle unit. Typically, they consist of hollow steel tubes with flanges fastened at each side to install U-joints. The U-joints have bearings and are connected to the transmission and axle yokes to enable the driveshaft to coordinate as the axle moves up and down along with the suspension. Rattling noises or screeching noise can suggest a damaged joint, so mount one of our quality replacements to prevent a huge disaster.

The components and equipment needed to depend on whether you have an all-wheel-drive, 4-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, or a front-wheel drive. The primary driveline flushes we suggest are the front and rear differential flush and the transfer case flush. Over time, the fluids in these systems disintegrate and become polluted. To make these parts run smoother, we'll remove the old liquid and put it in a new differential fluid. Experts say that the fluid needs to be replaced every 60,000 miles.

The differential puts the power out of the driveshaft and moves it to the wheels through the axle shafts. The driveshaft is linked to a pinion gear, which is driven by a ring gear coupled to the differential frame. The module includes pinion gears and side gears splined to the axle shafts, which together help the wheels to rotate at varying speeds when the corner is turned. Differentials are usually reliable devices, but bearings on which the differential and pinion rotate can cause vibration, noise, and clearance difficulties. We will supply all your repair needs, including rebuilding kits, case accessories, and ring and pinion packages.

Wheel hubs are the connection between the wheel to the axle. The hub is splined to the shaft of the axle and has a flange of studs to which the rim is mounted. The bearings of the hubs are typical wear components. When worn, you can hear a growling or scratching sound that may go off as you turn the steering wheel back and forth while traveling. Older hub bearings had to be disconnected and equipped with a press and fixtures, but most of the new vehicles had standardized hubs that were substituted as an assembly. Irrespective of the car or type of hub, we have the replacement parts to make your vehicle silent and secure again.

A Good Shift for a Performance Car

For a livelier shift action, a short shifter kit will make more precise and weighty shifts compared to the rubbery feel of stock shifters. Do you know what else goes well with a short shifter? A cool shift knob.

If you want to veer off from your OEM shift knob, you are in for a treat. Aftermarket shift knobs from leading brands like MOMO, Oettinger, MP Designs, and AC Schnitzer are engineered to have the precision and weight lacking from your stock shifters.

An even better part is that they come in different shapes, styles, and colors to suit your car's interior or your eccentric taste, or both.

Performance shifters also offer a better grip for sportier driving. A grippier, sportier, and more precise shift knob can help you perfect your heel-toe downshifts. Not to mention aftermarket shift knobs look better than stock ones, except maybe the metal ball shift knob made by Ferrari back when they still produced stick shift cars.
