Why Upgrade Your Radiator Hoses

So you think your car is cool?

Would you like it to be even cooler? Why not install colored radiator hoses to replace the factory ones that only comes in three shades of black?

Cool looking colored radiator hoses are a must for the car enthusiast and they bring an eye-catching look to your performance vehicle. We have radiator hoses that have as many colors as the rainbow. And if you want, we also have black.

These stylish radiator hoses are made from super strong silicone and they come in a wide range of sizes to fit almost any vehicle. Now that you have decided to brighten up your engine compartment with a set of colored silicone radiator hoses, maybe looking at our other radiator parts is the next logical step.

The Importance of a Radiator Hose

More than just looks, a radiator hose has a job to do. It helps keep your engine cool.

Because every engine exhibits a degree of torque-induced movement in the motor mounts, flexible connections are needed between the engine and the rigidly mounted parts of the cooling system: the radiator, heater core, and expansion tank.

These flexible connections are the radiator and heater hoses. To avoid leaks and potential engine damage, these hoses should be inspected regularly and replaced at the manufacturer’s recommended interval. And when it’s time for replacement, all you have to do is choose a color.

Now, upper radiator hose conducts hot coolant from the engine to the radiator, where it is cooled, and the lower temperature liquid returns to the engine through the lower radiator hose. The heater hoses then allow hot coolant to circulate through the heater core so the cabin can be warmed in winter.

How Should I Know When to Replace the Radiator Hose?

Coolant hoses function reliably for many years and thousands of miles. But since they are regularly subjected to pressure and temperature extremes, they eventually wear out.

Inspect your hoses for leakage, swelling, which can be caused by engine heat. Check for cracks, which can result from exposure to heat. The next thing to check is sponginess and bulging caused by oil contamination. Finally, abrasion damage from contact with other engine parts.

Hoses frequently fail due to Electrochemical Degradation (ECD), an electrical charge created by different metals in the cooling system that weakens the hose and makes it feel soft and mushy, especially at the ends.
