Swift made Sport Springs keeps the quality ride you get from the showroom, and adds improved handling and lower ride height for driving enthusiasts and style minded drivers who demand only the best. Swift did not develop the Sport Springs line by simply dropping the ride height. Unlike other manufacturers whose sole focus was style, Swift approached the creation of these lowering springs with 3 goals.

  • Maintain or improve a smooth, comfortable ride
  • Increase handling by reducing body roll and squat in search of overall suspension balance
  • Lower the vehicle within tolerance of each vehicles usable stroke
Every cars have their usable strokes

Most enthusiasts have had experiences with the typical harsh and uncomfortable ride from lowering springs. Performance is often overlooked by manufactures simply because it is easier to lower a vehicle for aesthetics. The end result is usually a bumpy ride that causes a decrease in traction, or excessive worn shocks caused by lowering the vehicle beyond the usable stroke.

Proprietary material and design to satisfy two contrasting factors

As you can imagine, keeping or improving the comfort level while increasing performance is not an easy task, especially since these two aspects contrast with each other.

Where most of the competition simply gave in to the easier method, Swift Springs decided to tackle this issue by creating our own material (H5S.TW), and unique manufacturing method that works very well for this material. Working in unison, the material and manufacturing method provides a superior level for both comfort and handling.

The way we design the lowering springs

We utilize spring design with fewer coils which not only allows us to decrease un-sprung mass but to also completely eliminate the chance of coil bind, while increasing the amount of usable stroke. Our proprietary material (H5S.TW) has a much quicker transient response, reacting to any road conditions which, in turn, cause a much smoother ride where other springs will skip on the harsh road surface, our spring will react to the road surface as needed.

With the Swift Sport Springs, we expect both street and circuit users to experience an increase in all aspects of suspension tuning from performance to comfort.

Bump Rubber

Suspension usable stroke for the cars now a day is very limited compared to before. To let the suspension do its own job efficiently, many car manufactures use bump rubber as a part of a suspensions functional part, not only to limit the shock stroke but to prevent the shocks from bottoming out. This scenario also applies to real world racing, and we use this as a primary focus when designing the sport springs.

Vehicle characteristics

Swift developed each Sport Springs application based on the individual vehicles unique characteristic. Put simply, a luxury car will maintain its luxury ride, and sports car will maintain its sports car feel.

Why was Swift Springs Formed?

Swift Springs was founded in 1997 in Tokyo, Japan as a motorsports division of Tokyo Hatsujo Manufacturing Co, Ltd., which has been leading the spring industry since 1924. Swift Springs was established to demonstrate their superior engineering by developing the next generation of sport suspension coilover springs. The scope of the project was to surpass the best of any other brand or design in the market by making the springs ultra-durable and lightweight, while still being affordable.

World-Class Racing Experience

Since its inception, Swift Springs has been led by former racer and suspension expert Kei Yokota and the chief engineer Yasu Saito. Their first-hand experience and involvement within the race industry have propelled Swift Springs through the ranks of the world’s most prestigious races. Swift quickly became the most recognized and respected name in performance coil springs in motorsports all around the globe.

The brand’s impressive motor racing history started in 1998 with a Nissan Skyline GT-R in the Super Taikyu Endurance championship series in Japan. Swift Springs moved on to support championship teams in the 24 Hours Nurburgring, 24 Hours of Le Mans, D-1 World Grand Prix, F3, Formula Toyota, the Super Taikyu series, and many other world-class races. In 2004, Team Goh’s Audi R8 won first place with Swift Springs at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race.

All Springs are not Created Equal

All coilover spring manufacturers claim to have four factors: lightest in weight, largest amount of stroke, most consistent spring rate, and highest durability against loss of spring height. Only the innovative and revolutionary Swift Springs achieve the fifth factor which is having the fastest reaction speed possible to gain compliance on road surface conditions. While diameters and spring rates may be similar across several brands, the spring manufacturing process is what determines exactly how well they will perform. To achieve all five factors, Swift Springs developed a proprietary steel alloy "HS5.TW", as well as a patented winding method that no other coilover manufacturer can duplicate.

Swift Springs provide drivers with a difference that they can feel and several racing benefits. Swift Springs use a very strong alloy, which means they can use a thinner diameter of wire. In turn, the thinner wire is much lighter and extremely vital given it is unsprung weight. Thinner wire also means that there is more gap between the coils with more “stroke” for the spring. This gives the spring more travel and does not “bottom” as early as thicker wire springs. Lastly, Swift Springs prove to be incredibly consistent and reliable. At the end of one year of racing, Swift Springs are typically within .5-1.0 percent of the rate they were when they just came out of the box.
