The ADVAN A048 is a Yokohama Streetable Track & Competition racing tire developed for drivers who participate in autocross competitions, high-performance driving schools, lapping days and club racing circuits, as well as the Original Equipment (O.E.) on the Lotus Elise and Exige. The ADVAN A048 is designed to bring Yokohama's advanced racing technology to a new level of DOT-approved tire performance by delivering accurate control, secure braking and predictable grip. 

ADVAN A048 radials comply with the DOT requirements, but are not recommended for driving under wet conditions where standing water is present and there is a risk of hydroplaning; drivers should exercise caution at reduced speeds if they meet these conditions.

ADVAN A048 molds race-ready tread compound(s) (offering medium or medium-hard choice in many sizes) that can be used to match the vehicle weight and performance capabilities of the tires, as well as track conditions and ambient temperatures. It features a single block" treadmill design that increases treadmill stiffness and features a wide center area that remains in continuous contact with the track to enhance cornering stability, on-center feel and steering response. The inner structure of the tire is made up of twin steel belts reinforced with spirally wrapped nylon cap folds and belt edge strips. The belt pack is placed on top of a rounded housing design that allows the tire to handle transitions from straight-line travel to high g-force cornering and back.

ADVAN A048 tires are molded with 6/32" of tread depth in their grooves and are left unshaved for use on damp tracks. We suggest shaving ADVAN A048 tires to approximately 4/32" treadmill depth to begin competitive road racing/track use in dry conditions. ADVAN A048's directional lane design and symmetrical internal construction allow partially worn tires to be remounted inside-out on their wheels to help prolong their lifespan. 

Warning: ADVAN A048 radials meet the requirements of the DOT, but are not recommended for driving under wet conditions where standing water is present and there is a risk of hydroplaning; drivers should exercise caution at reduced speeds if they encounter these conditions. This is particularly true of shaved or worn tires. Like other Streetable Track & Competition tires, these tires are not intended to be stored, serviced or driven near or below freezing temperatures, by snow or on ice.
