The Elongator is a patented tailgate with an integrated, folding extension that replaces your factory tailgate. Made of aluminum and high strength steel, the Elongator has been designed to take as much abuse as your truck does and keep coming back for more. The Elongator Tailgate is available with an integrated backup camera and remote locking system that works with OEM wiring and key fob. Plug-N-Play. No programming required.
The Elongator is always with you. You never have to bring an extension or a ramp. It is there when you need it and out of the way when you don't. It does not intrude into the truck bed any more than the factory gate.
The exterior skin in matte black and UV protected. The skin is suitable for color match painting if desired. Custom skin patterns such as black carbon fiber, white carbon fiber, or camo are available.
The gate extension is integrated into the Elongator. It is out of the way. You will not notice it until you need it.
This extension can lock in two positions. First at 180 degrees. This will extend the length of your cargo bed by almost two feet to help securely carry long loads.
The extension can also lock at 210 degrees. This forms the basis of a loading ramp.
Stored inside the Elongator are two aluminum ramp sections that attach to the extension in multiple locations. These create two 6 foot ramps that provide easy access to the cargo bed for wheeled vehicles and equipment.
The ramps have a patented attachment method so they will not kick out during loading operations.
If your truck has a fixed hinge point on the right side of the truck it will not have the proper hinges. The Elongator Tailgate will only fit on the hinges that come with a rotating hinge point on the right side. If your GMC | Chevrolet Truck has the "loft assist" kit you should already have a rotating hinge point. Ford trucks may have a rotating point by may not have an assist. The rotating pin is the important part.
If you have a fixed hinge point on the right side, you will need to purchase a hinge adaptor package specific to your manufacturer. Once you install these adaptors on your truck the Elongator Tailgate will fit properly.
To determine which type of hinge you have:
Open your tailgate and lower it about 1/3 of the way.
Pull out on the right side of the tailgate. The gate will slide up and off the hinge point. Look at the hinge and compare to the pictures below to determine if you need a hinge adaptor kit.
