Goodyear's Extreme Performance Summer tire, the Eagle F1 Supercar G: 2 (Generation 2), was designed to be used as Original Equipment (O.E.) on Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 coupes and convertibles, and also Ford Shelby GT500 Mustangs equipped with Ford's SVT Performance Package. By blending an uncompromising aesthetic with awe-inspiring speed, the Eagle F1 Supercar G: 2 is created to be both street-refined and track-capable. These tires, like all Extreme Performance Summer tires, are not designed to be maintained, kept, or used in temperatures near or below freezing, through snow, or on ice.
"Ultra high-performance summer tires are not intended for winter usage," according to Goodyear's warranty, "and tread or shoulder cracking on those tires caused by winter use will not be protected under its warranty."
The Eagle F1 Supercar G: 2 has a race-inspired tread compound fashioned into a distinctive asymmetric and directional tread pattern that benefits the driver with a combination of dry road traction (thanks to enormous outboard shoulder tread blocks) and wet road assurance (offered by Eagle F1 GS-D3 inspired sweeping Aquachannel grooves on the inboard side).
The Eagle F1 Supercar G:2 is a Goodyear ultra-high-performance (UHP) tire designed to deliver outstanding traction in dry circumstances thanks to a special tread compound. An asymmetric and directed tread design, along with large outboard tread blocks, improves dry cornering traction and grip on the road greatly.
Twin, high-tensile steel belts are particularly strengthened with spirally wound nylon to produce a tire that lasts longer and is more durable. They have a serrated band sidewall and are available in sizes 19 to 20 inches, with a Y-speed rating.
The tire's structure incorporates twin high-tensile steel belts strengthened with spirally wound nylon that evenly distribute the vehicle's weight across the tire's footprint, ensuring high-speed longevity and consistent ride quality. Internal design improves steering precision and stability at high speeds. Wheels are protected from curb damage by exterior sidewall rim flange protectors. Due to the staggered tire/wheel size fitments on Shelby GT500 Mustangs equipped with Ford's SVT Performance Package applications will require position-specific (RF, RR, LF, and LR) tires.
Microgrooves "lock together in driving motions to give a firm foundation for cornering," according to Goodyear, while the Eagle GT's dual-use nature is achieved through an outboard High-Performance Zone for control and an inboard All-Season Zone for traction. The Solstice slithered its way around the cones with impressive grip, given these were all-season tires. The tires provided significantly more grip than the Solstice did in terms of power.
