The WP Pro front brake rotor kit can greatly improve your stopping performance on the Nissan GT-R R35. Weighing in at 4000lbs, the GT-R is very hard on brakes with most drivers cracking the discs even from hard street driving. Upgraded brake rotors should help dissipate heat more efficiently, provide better braking balance, and increase the longevity of your brake rotors. From the factory, the 2008-2011 GT-R came with 380x34mm rotors while the 2012+ was equipped with 390x32.8mm rotors in the front. The WP Pro front brake rotor upgrade increases your rotor size to 400x34mm (15.8 inches). With the WP Pro brake rotor upgrade on your Nissan GT-R R35, you have a much improved braking setup for the street and track requirements.
To use the larger diameter rotor, WP Pro supplies a caliper spacer that is designed for either the 2008-2011 models or the 2012+ GT-R’s. The rotors feature a machined aluminum hat with 2 piece hardware. The rotor hats are hard anodized to prevent any scratching or wearing from taking wheels on and off. Each rotor has been heat treated for 24 hours at temperatures of up to 800 degrees Celsius (1472F). One of the biggest advantages of doing a brake upgrade is the rotational weight savings. From the factory, the stock 2 piece 390mm rotors weighed in at 25.5lbs per corner. The WP Pro front rotors weigh only 23.4 lbs. which saves you 2.1 lbs. per corner over the stock 2012+ 390mm rotors. The rotational weight savings is like taking 6.3 lbs. of dead weight off each corner!
With more effective curved vanes in a V shape, these further help dissipate heat away from the rotors. This design improves cooling by pushing cool air from the center of the wheel to where the rotor needs it most. For those that want a standard round rotor, these are available as well. Each kit has been manufactured to achieve WP Pro's high quality standards that come from years of rigorous testing. The kit is sold as a complete front axle setup with rotors, hardware, and hats. Replacement brake discs can be purchased separately when necessary as the brake hat is not a consumable item.
- Pair of 2-Piece 400x34 Round Rotors assembled with hardware and aluminum hats
- Front caliper spacers for your selected year to use the larger 400mm diameter
- Anodized rotor hats
- Full floating assemblies with stainless steel M8 bolts vs standard M6 hardware
- Directional vented, heat treated, and coated rotors
- Nissan GT-R 2008+
- Nissan GT-R SpecV 2008+
- Nissan GT-R Black Edition 2012+
- Nissan GT-R Nismo 15-16
- Does NOT fit Nissan GT-R Nismo 17-20+. The Nismo wheel studs are 14x1.5mm where the standard GTR are 12x1.25. To get these to work you would have to open up the wheel stud holes.
WP Pro Brakes has been in business since 1981 with facilities in Canada, Taiwan, and the UK producing high quality OEM and aftermarket braking systems. It does everything from forging, machining, assembly, and even race car testing. This is not just another colored chinese caliper kit, there is engineering behind the WP Pro components. Proving this point is their Race/Track brake systems. The specific calipers share the same body as their beautiful EX6 6piston caliper but with titanium vented pistons, 3D machining on the body, for where looks are secondary, and performance is the main focus. The 6-piston race caliper weighs just 2.6kg and is designed strictly for racing. These WP Pro racing kits were developed for the WTCC and Asia Carrera Cup racing series. Having partnered with the Chevrolet Cruze WTCC teams, their 4 piston calipers are the same design as the EX6 and include anti-knock-back springs, titanium piston covers with stainless steel pistons, and a structural bridge. These calipers were tested against some major companies' calipers and proved stronger and more rigid.
What we are really excited about is its Carbon Ceramic rotor offerings. For years it has been only the OEMs who had the carbon ceramic rotors as a factory options. This option could cost upwards of $30,000 and good luck finding cheap or any replacement parts. The reason carbon ceramic rotors are so highly desired is they are EXTREMELY lightweight and simply do not fade. WP Pro Brakes has a huge application list of Carbon Ceramic rotors for almost every high performance car including Aston Martin, Ferrari, Nissan GT-R, Porsche 996 997 Turbo or GT3, and others. Of course these are not or never will be priced as low as standard steel discs, but are much more affordable and for those looking at serious braking performance or upgrades, this is an amazing option. For some of the Carbon Ceramic kits, WP Pro offers the discs to work with the factory hat, or alternatively will include the hat assembly and pads. Some kits are even a Plus 1 size to give you more rotor surface for better braking. For price comparison, the front 997 Turbo carbon ceramic rotors to work with the OEM 6piston calipers are $7800. That is in the OEM size of 380x35 but they even do a 'Plus 1' kit to a 392x35mm!
Now that we have shown they have the track record to back up their products, we can tell you that WP Pro Brakes also carries an entire line of street/track big brake kits. Every make model you can think of from Audi A4, BMW M3, Mini Cooper, Corvette, Ferrari, Mercedes and the new CLA, Ford Focus ST and Fiesta ST, Infiniti, Lamborghini, Lexus, Mazda, Nissan including GT-R, Range Rover, Porsche, Scion including FR-S, Volkswagen, and more. Each big brake kit includes 2 piece rotors, steel braided brake lines, calipers, pads, lightweight brackets and hardware to install. Where available, a Plus 1 rotor size can be had and some kits are available in 4, 6, and 12 piston calipers. Their EX6 6piston caliper as pictured below features an optional carbon fiber vent duct as well. All replacement parts are available for each kit if needed.
