How Is The Forgestar F10D Wheel So Special?

The Forgestar F10D is a result of 30-years of development. The F10D came to be as Forgestar used its proprietary forging technology called flow forged. It is available in widths from 9.0 inches to 12.0 inches to suit most sports cars, sports sedans, and supercars. It is also available in a deep concave profile that adds depth and attitude to an already beautiful wheel.

Flow Forged | Forgestar’s Flow Forming Tech

Flow Forming is a production procedure that turns the wheel over a special mandrel and three hydraulic rollers using tremendous pressure. The pressure and turning then force the rim area to form against the mandrel, creating the shape and width of the rim. During Flow Forming, the rim "flows" down to create the full rim width.

During Flow Forming, the pressure applied to the cast rim changes its mechanical properties, so its strength and impact values become similar to those of a forged rim. That translates to up to 15% less weight when compared to a standard cast wheel. Forgeline’s technological breakthroughs in heat treating allow them to increase dent resistance without having to make the wheel heavier.

As a result, the F10D is similar in strength to that of a fully forged wheel, without the cost. The process used to make the Forgestar wheels is the same process BBS uses. The F10D is rated at 1520 lbs per wheel which is considerably more than a cast wheels’ which are typically around 1000-1200 lbs. per wheel.

Why Should I Install Aftermarket Wheels?

  • Aftermarket wheels have been engineered to be lightweight, which is why these see the primary use in motorsports
  • A lighter wheel reduces un-sprung weight, resulting in faster acceleration and significantly improved handling
  • A bigger wheel allows space for much larger brake rotors and calipers—usually a must when a car is built to race
  • A larger wheel is more attractive in design compared to boring stock wheels

Forgestar wheels offer a wide range of offsets to choose from, while standard cast wheels come in a set offset. Custom offsets enable wider wheels to be fitted in stock suspensions and lowered vehicles. Forgestar wheels are designed specifically for your car and are designed for suspension.
