The Proxes R888R DOT competition tire is an evolution of the racing-winning Proxes R888, delivering even faster lap times and better dry handling. The credit goes to a new tray design and an improved contact patch that puts more rubber on the track. Racers will also appreciate the predictable handling and the speed with which the Proxes R888R reaches optimum operating temperature.
Evolving from the Proxes R888, the Proxes R888R is Toyo's Racetrack & Autocross Only tire for driving enthusiasts participating in track days, road racing and high-performance driver training events. Like all Racetrack & Autocross Only tires, the Proxes R888R radials are not intended to be driven at near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice. It is also essential to store these tires indoors at temperatures above 15 degrees F.
The Proxes R888R tires feature an R-compound tread that quickly reaches operating temperature and ensures high grip levels for maximum cornering traction. The treadmill is molded into an aggressive, asymmetric treadmill pattern with massive outboard shoulder blocks to provide the lateral grip needed when driving along the track. Continuous development of the contact patch gives the Proxes R888R a higher level of dry traction for improved braking, acceleration and cornering compared to its predecessor.

While Proxes R888R radials meet the requirements of D.O.T., they are not recommended for driving under wet conditions when shaved or worn where standing water is present and there is a risk of hydroplaning. Drivers should be careful to drive at reduced speeds if they encounter these conditions.
Internal construction of the R888R features a two- or three-ply (depending on size) Rayon casing supporting two wide, high-tensile steel belts. A spirally-wound nylon reinforcement ply provides additional high-speed stability and durability.
