Weds Wheels

WEDS Wheels

Weds originally produced wheels for the Nissan motor company. In 1969, they entered the aftermarket wheel industry as a supplier of the now-defunct Elster brand. Founded in 1984, Weds Wheels used the rigor of motorsport racing to design wheels that allowed engineers to develop innovative technologies to produce wheels that are champions on the street and track.

Weds is a Japanese wheel manufacturer for both motorsport and street use. Weds currently produces three brands of wheels: WedsSport, Kränze, and Maverick. The company is most notable for their WedsSport line of motorsport wheels and WedsSport's longtime sponsorship of the Super GT racing team, Racing Project Bandoh.

Fun fact #1: The Company was renamed in 1973 to WEDS, short for World Elster Distribution System.

Fun Fact #2: Weds created the world's first three-piece forged wheel in 1977.

WEDS’ Advanced Metal Forming Technology

In AMF, first of all, it has the process simultaneously casting both rim and disc. And then the cast disc is to be put through a wheel-only spinning processor and roll the rim. Cast into a shape unique to flow-forming. It is molded with stretching as opposed to other products that are cast in with the shape of products. With the application of extensive heat, rim sections are stretched by exclusive spinning equipment.

AMF realizes more flexible and tenacious strength by having aluminum material’s crystal and macro formation get further detailed through being forged in this process. As a result, high-strength rim with “stretch strength,” “durability,” and “spread” which are basic characters required for aluminum wheels, is born. It is now possible to create a high-precision rim that is a seamless tube compared to the type that forms a sheet material into a ring through welding. AMF on the disc surface usually is cast, it keeps design-flexibility, but it contributes to the reduction of unsprung load because the rim-part is spread thin as much as possible by spinning machine. Such a new method of manufacturing process method is AMF which has the merit of both casting and forging. AMF has newly created the WedsSport brand concept “Faster, Safer.” New generation technology improved in motorsports enters the scene with superb performance.

WEDS’ Casting and Forging

Generally, the advantage of casting is that it melts aluminum alloy at high temperatures and pours into a mold to form as one so that the design flexibility on the disk is quite high, making it easy to mass-produce and cost-effective. On the other hand, it is difficult to reduce weight from a technical point of view, as it is difficult to form into thin metal. Also, what was formed by casting is often uneven and the particles are not coherent, so its strength is not good enough.

On the other hand, the forged wheels are made by running a lump of aluminum or alloy into a high-pressure pressing machine so that the aluminum particles are dispersed and formed according to the shape of the wheel and are stronger (Fiber Flow). Because of the way they are produced, the forged wheels can be made lightweight. It seems perfect, but there is a definite weakness of 'It's not flexible from a design perspective. The forging process has already been explained using a high rate of weight to form a shape. As a result, it is not suitable for complicated cosmetic face design. Forging also has the disadvantage of being more expensive as a result of multi-processing.

Why Switch to Vivid Racing as your Aftermarket Wheel Provider?

Regardless of what styles or sizes you're interested in, the one thing you can depend on to come with every wheel or wheels and tires order is the best buying experience in the business.

From fitment help from our in-house wheel experts to shipping packages, we'll take care of you and your order every step of the way. We know how much of a financial investment you're making in a set of wheels or wheels and tires, and in return, we'll deliver service and product that is second to none.

At Vivid Racing, we love cars. Cars are our vice in life. We love the automotive community and love our customers who think like us.

Vivid Racing ensures that they meet the customer's expectations regarding quality, size, and strength.

The company always provides quality wheels for applications where you need speed and good looks, such as racing vehicles. They are also relatively resistant to corrosion.

Why Should I Install Aftermarket Wheels?

  • Aftermarket wheels have been engineered to be lightweight, so these see the primary use in motorsports.
  • A lighter wheel reduces un-sprung weight, resulting in faster acceleration and significantly improved handling.
  • A bigger wheel allows space for much larger brake rotors and calipers—usually a must when a car is built to race.
  • A larger wheel is more attractive in design compared to dull stock wheels.

We can help. Vivid Racing was voted #1 in customer service nationwide!
