The DC reps came by Vivid Racing yesterday and outfitted our showroom with some new limited edition Subaru display shows and dropped a rack with the new Monster/DC Shoes T-Shirts. Some of these shoes will be available at the beginning of 2010 while the new Monster/DC Shoes shirts and previous Gymkhana shirts are already available on our DC Shoes Rally Store Here.
A couple years back, DC Shoes launched their automotive line of driving shoes and a spin off lifestyle shoe called the Chicane. These were in direct relationship to Ken Block and his association with the Subaru Rally Team. With the introduction of rally to the XGames and then Ken’s amazingly popular Gymkhana 1 and 2 videos, the DC Shoes rally brand has taken off strong. To continue their already successful rally branded clothes, DC has launched 3 new shirts featuring Ken and VR customer and friend, Dave Mirra. Dave has taken rally driving by storm and now as an official Subaru Team Driver, he gets his own #40 badass t-shirt. In addition to the new threads, DC has moved forward and released the ProSpec 2.0. Unlike the ProSpec 1.0 SFI race boot, the new ProSpec 2.0 is now offered in a lifestyle street low top show or their more race ProSpec 2.0 Mid shoe. For those wanting the certification of a professional driving shoe, the ProSpec 1.0 is still available in Royal Blue and now back in BLACK! These shoes are available to pre-order on Vivid Racing for February 2010 delivery.
Ken Block has done it again. After the first Gymkhana video was released, over 20 Million people viewed it online. Now he has teamed up to do it again at the Ports in California in his new 2009 Subaru STI. The Gymkhana built specific STI has over 500 horsepower and can do things that you would never imagine. The video is full of amazing video and special appearances by Rob Dyrdek and Jason Ellis. Vivid Racing is one of the exclusive dealers for the DC Automotive program. Vivid Racing has been an integral part of the distribution and cross marketing of DC Shoes automotive racing shoes. With the involvement of DC co-founder Ken Block into Rally Racing, DC has now become a household name even to car nuts. With other action sports athletes such as Vivid Racing friend Dave Mirra driving for Subaru, DC Shoes is taking tuner cars to another level. Riding on the success of the first Gymkhana Practice video that grabbed the attention of over 20 million viewers worldwide, DC and Ken Block are producing another gymkhana video. Operating under the project name “Gymkhana TWO,” the video has a target launch date of June 1, 2009. Leading up to the launch of the video, DC will release several teaser videos and behind the scenes photos, exclusive interviews, appearance information, upcoming event details and contests in a new blog section on its website – http://auto.dcshoes.com/features/ken-block-blog.
Block, who is a co-founder of DC leading the brand since 1994, is also a member of the DC Rally Team, and is currently working hard to develop the project. Details are still on lock, but the latest gymkhana video will feature a new location, new car, all new footage, and be filled with lots of surprises.
The first pre-release video highlights some of the details of Block’s new car. Block got involved in gymkhana a few years ago as a way to get more time behind the wheel of rally-related race cars. In his original Gymkhana Practice video released last November, he took traditional gymkhana to the next level, adding buildings, barriers, and, perhaps most insane, donuts around a moving Segway.
“The first gymkhana video was a lot of fun to make and surprised everyone with its viral success,” said Block. “Although it will be tough to one up a guy on a moving Segway, I am going to do my best – I have a couple of surprises lined up. If everything goes as planned, the unique location and obstacles should be pretty amazing.”
