GMG and H&R Improve Handling on this Porsche 997TT

Publishsed by Dan on July 9th, 2009 | Posted in Client Cars | No Comments »

With the sun shining in New York, all the fast cars and bikes are out on the street.  Our customer Valentino wanted to make sure that his Porsche 997 Turbo would have no problem running with them on the turns.  So Val contacted us at Vivid Racing to gear him up.  In order to get a lowered look but still good handling, Val decided to go with the GMG springs.  These springs lowered the car approximately 1.0 inch in the front and rear improving the handling.  Since the AWD is known to have understeer, Val also added some front and rear GMG sway bars.  These hollow adjustable sway bars allowed Val to set the rear stiffer to help bring the car around.  As a final touch, he added the H&R 7mm spacers in the front and 14mm spacers in the rear to push those wheels out for a flusher fit.  With a GT3 spec alignment, his 997 Turbo is ready to rock!

2 New Porsche 997 Turbo Parts from Agency Power

Publishsed by Dan on March 17th, 2009 | Posted in Product Info | No Comments »

Agency Power has just released 2 new incredible parts for the Porsche 997 Turbo vehicle.  2 help improve the handling performance, Agency Power has released front and rear adjustable sway bars.  In addition, for those pushing the power limits on the stock turbos, Agency Power has released their 4 piece silicone boost hose set.  Read more below.

Sway Bars – http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/suspension-sway-bars-c-4208_4212.html?class_9=5153&my_type_id=8&my_value=38&class_8=38&filter_id=135

In the quest to create the most well balanced suspension for the 997 Turbo, Agency Power has developed these sway bars to our specifications. The all wheel drive Porsche turbo cars naturally have a lot of under steer. Under steer is when you take a turn but your car keeps going outwards. With an AWD car, getting the rear end around can be easily done with a larger sway bar. However you do not want to induce to much over steer as then you will be throttle steering or sent into a drift. With the combination of a properly balanced front and rear sway bar, your car will handle turns much more neutrally and quickly. The sway bars are designed to stiffen up the chassis as well to reduce body roll. Some times called “anti roll bars”; sway bars help keep the chassis flat through the turns. In combination with a good set of springs or coilovers, you will greatly improve your handling of your Porsche 997 Turbo.

The Agency Power sway bars are made in the USA from high strength steel. The adjustability holes have been engineered to not overload the sway bar links causing them to break. The solid sway bars feature 3 way adjustable ends for maximum adjustability for under and over steer. All of our sway bars feature urethane bushings to fit in the stock bracket for an OEM fit. The sway bars are finished in a white powder coat like our other sway bars to stand out in front of the competition.  The rear bar is a 24mm 3 way adjustable unit which is a very complex design featuring 12 bends.  The front bar is a 3 way adjustable 25mm and works with stock or aftermarket sway bar links.  These sway bars are over 50% stiffer then stock. Perfect design and setup for those wanting a great handling street car with high speed track performance. Sway bars are sold individually.

Boost Hoseshttp://www.vividracing.com/catalog/agency-power-silicone-boost-hose-set-porsche-997-turbo-07-p-61757.html

As the horsepower on your 997 Turbo increases, so does the need for preventative products to ensure your boost is holding strong. The stock boost hoses are much like a rubber brake line that expands outwards under pressure. This causes a loss in boost pressure and can sometimes relate to the hose blowing off the turbo or Y-Pipe leaving you stranded. Because the Agency Power Silicone Boost Hoses are made from 4ply silicone with CNC machined 6061 aluminum ends, they will never pop off. The property of the silicone also keeps it at a fixed circumference as the silicone will not expand. The new Agency Power Porsche 997 Turbo Boost Hoses are sold as a set of 4 to replace your 2 top hoses off the Y-Pipe to the intercooler and the 2 bottom hoses from the intercooler to turbos. All hoses come preassembled for an easy installation and feature the AP logo on the silicone. Each silicone hose is fastened to the aluminum hose fitting with a secure clamp and includes a new Porsche rubber O-Ring. The boost hoses will be available in red, blue, and silver. Custom colors can be ordered for an additional fee. Made in the USA.

Agency Power High Flow Headers on a Porsche 997 Turbo

Before we headed off to the Gumball 3000 rally, we did 1 more mod to our Project Porsche 997 Turbo and installed these Agency Power High Flow Headers.  The headers feature thick flanges with 304 stainless steel tube that is TIG welded.  Each tube is designed to come into the collector for the best exhaust flow possible.  Having run the piss out of this car for 2000 miles in 6 days, the headers truly made a difference.  Here are a couple pics from the install.

Stay tuned to our Project Porsche 997TT section as next week we will be installing GMG sway bars and a IPD intake plenum with dyno tests.
