The Toyota Tundra was the first-ever full-size pickup truck built by a Japanese automaker in North America. Since its introduction more than 20 years ago, the Tundra has garnered and held a solid reputation for being one of the most reliable and rugged trucks out there. For those looking for something simple – a truck that can get the job done and withstand significant abuse for years and years – the Tundra is that kind of truck. And whether you are taking the Tundra off-road or not, the aftermarket offers a plethora of mods to take your truck to the next level and customize it your way.
Our customer brought in the 2020 Toyota Tundra you see here for an aftermarket exhaust and some lighting goodies. In addition to being widely recognized for its dependability, the Toyota Tundra offers a potent and proven V8 engine. Unfortunately for the Tundra 5.7L, the distinct tone that V8 lovers are so fond of has been heavily toned down by the manufacturer from the factory. Fortunately for Tundra owners, VR Performance has developed the best solution for this common problem with its new Valvetronic Cat-Back Exhaust System that truly turns the ’13-’21 Tundra V8 truck into a beast.

The VR Performance Valvetronic Exhaust offers a louder, more free-flowing exhaust tone that can be made quiet at the mere push of a button. When the valves are opened, the exhaust is consequently wide open and delivers an intense V8 sound. When the valves are shut, you experience a soundtrack that is still sporty but more appropriate for cruising. With this system, you never have to choose between an aggressive exhaust and one that is comfortable for daily driving – you get the best of both worlds.
The VR Performance Valvetronic system was designed in-house right here in Gilbert, Arizona using state-of-the-art 3D scanning and modeling methods. It was initially built and tested on our very own Toyota Tundra for thousands of miles to ensure performance and power gains. This exhaust is crafted from 304 stainless steel that has been fully TIG welded for durability and then bead blasted for a unique finish. The exhaust bolts right up to the factory headers on your Tundra and uses an OEM-style rear-over-axle section that ends with dual-exit exhaust tips in a stunning black chrome finish. Each kit comes with all of the necessary hardware for a seamless installation so you can be on your way to a whole new driving experience in no time.
Give the video below a watch, and listen, to see just how incredible the VR Performance Valvetronic system is in both open and closed modes! It really makes the world of a difference from stock and gets the V8 pick-up truck to where it needs to be sound-wise, as well as adds a nice finishing touch with its black chrome exhaust tips.
We also added some Rigid Radiance ditch lights with our VR Performance A-Pillar Light Bracket Kit and a ZRoadZ light bar using our VR Performance Hood Grill Light Bar Bracket. This customer opted for the Rigid Industries LED Pod with Amber Backlight Radiance, which is a top choice for those who want to experience Rigid’s legendary quality at an affordable level. The Radiance Pod is crafted with the same high-grade aluminum alloy housing as the brand’s iconic D-Series lights and offers a truly custom look. Inside the Radiance Pod are forward-projecting optics that optimize the light output and back-lighting available in white, green, amber, blue, and red.
This Tundra owner also chose to install the ZRoadZ 40-Inch LED Straight Single Row Slim Light Bar because it provides better off-road visibility in a high-quality package. The straight, single-row design gives a sleek aesthetic for a streamlined look that isn’t too over the top like some other light bars out there. This light bar is crafted from durable diecast aluminum and features a polycarbonate lens that is virtually unbreakable! You can use this light bar in environments with temperatures ranging from freezing -40° weather to a whopping 140°. ZRoadZ lights are 100 percent waterproof and IP69 rated with a lifespan of up to 50,000 hours to last you through all of your adventures!
