BBS is pleased to announce the addition of new applications to their FI-R wheel lineup. The BBS FI-R wheel boasts minimum mass and maximum stability wrapped in the world-famous BBS motorsports-inspired design with five distinctive Y spokes. These ultra-lightweight forged wheels are perfect for supercars, because they provide attractive styling and reliable performance without the unnecessary added weight. It’s a wheel that checks all of the boxes so you never have to compromise one wheel characteristic for another.
Every BBS wheel starts from a billet of 6,000 series aluminum (or a special magnesium alloy) using the brand’s special multi-stage die-forging process. This can sometimes can require up to 18 million pounds of pressure to produce. Every stage of production is optimized to help create the best-forged wheel in the industry for the very best vehicles out there. Not only are BBS wheels like the FI-R super light, but they have been strategically designed to optimize the stiffness to weight ratio while providing the safety and long-term durability customers expect for their ride – especially from BBS.
The new application will fit the Lamborghini Huracan and Gallardo, as well as the Audi R8. It is also believed that the wheels will fit the McLaren Mc12; however, BBS has no confirmation of that as of yet. New information regarding this application will be released once they have been test fitted on the car. BBS has two sets of FI-R wheels coming in platinum silver within the next two weeks. They have already received a set in satin black that will be used for content generation. Additional sets will follow in 30-60 days.
