Function 26 – Coilover Switch – JIC in the House.

I have been running Tein Flex Coilovers with EDFC on all 3 of my cars now. The famous Vivid WRX I, Vivid WRX II, and now the EVO VIII. I mean how cool is it that you can adjust the dampening from inside the car, have adjustable height, and camber for all under $1800. Easily…quality, design, and function. The Tein Coilovers are indeed a good system for the daily driver occasional racer, but the coilover lacks technology and design to make it perform up to the JIC standards. As serious racers we are at Vivid Racing, we want the cars to handle the best in all conditions. This is where the JIC FLTA2 came into play.

The JIC coil over has adjustable height, seperate rebound and compression adjustments, nitrogen gas charge, and adjustable camber. The FLTA2 also uses a inverted Monotube shock inside which is far superior to Teins twin tube design. The Twin Tube is much cheaper to manufacturer and ride quality and performance is effected. Installing the JIC was simple since we had already installed the Tein. The old ones drop down, and the new ones drop in. It helps to have the right tools, some friends around, and a good open weekend so you dont feel rushed. Total install time for one car is 3-4 hours. We did both our Project WRX and Project EVO in 5!

After installing the coilovers it is always recommend to get an alignment. Your camber and castor must be set as well as your toe. Once the car is aligned it is time for a test drive. The JIC definitely road nicer then the Teins. Absorbing more and giving the car a more racy feel. The car leaned well in turns and could balance out when pushed hard. Overall impression is if you want a serious racing coilover then JIC is the way to go!
