It’s safe to say that most hardcore off-road enthusiasts know the numerous benefits associated with lower tire pressure such as improved ride quality and a larger contact patch for better traction. Even so, low pressures can also raise the risk for de-beading the tire during extreme side loads and harder driving. While traditional beadlock wheels address this issue by clamping the tire’s bead, they also require frequent maintenance, specialty tools, increased rotational mass, and are not legal for on-road applications.
With that said, the ICON Alloys Rebound PRO with InnerLock Technology offers the best of both worlds by using a robust bead retention system to keep the tire bead secured to the wheel while also being completely DOT compliant. ICON’s engineers put the Rebound PRO wheel through extensive testing during R&D, which consisted of thousands of miles of real-world abuse in harsh and unforgiving environments. After that, the Rebound PRO wheel was sent to an independent contractor for lab testing, specifically the FMVSS No.139 Tire Bead Unseat Resistance Test (modified to 10 psi). The effectiveness of ICON’s InnerLock Technology was validated by way of the results from multiple tests. Results also showed that this technology exceeded the mechanical limits of the machine (over 7600lbs load) without ever de-beading the tire. The foundings were quite impressive and it’s safe to say that the ICON Alloys Rebound PRO wheel is a true off-road work of art.
Staying true to ICON Alloys’ mission, the Rebound PRO wheel has been expertly engineered to maximize caliper clearance and optimize wheel position for un-hindered suspension travel and steering function. Backspacing and offset sizing have been strategically developed to reduce the chance of scrub radius and improve all-over handling and ride quality for a more enjoyable driving experience. The Rebound PRO is super durable and had its strength tested to yield a 3,200-pound load rating. This makes it one of the strongest wheel options available on the market today – perfect for any SUV, Jeep, or truck.
