For decades enthusiasts in the USA wanted to buy the Civic Type R, but they never brought it to the US. They always stuck us with the watered down SI model, at least until the FK8 came along. The FK8 is the first turbocharged Civic Type R ever and the first to come to the states. It’s been a massive success, and the aftermarket support has been exploding. As with any turbocharged car, an aftermarket intake is a great first modification.
Up to this point, Injen has released two cold air intakes for the FK8, however, both of them lack a full box for the filter. Without a box for the intake, hot air from the trapped in the engine bay can get sucked into the intake. Hot air is less dense than cold air, and hot air is more likely to cause detonation. This new Evolution intake from Injen uses a full roto-molded intake box and roto-molded intake tube, resulting in an increase in airflow with low intake air temperatures.
Unlike some other aftermarket intakes, Injen designed this new intake to work perfectly with the OEM tune. The entire intake is a direct OEM replacement with no custom work required for installation. As tested by Injen, gain of up to 13 horsepower can be found after installation thanks to the increased airflow.
