One of the newest products for the VR Tuned ECU Tuning line is the Auto Flash. The Auto Flash is a OBDII plug in module that uses factory mapping to enhance your vehicles performance. The Auto Flash tool changes the tuning on your vehicle using factory files which make it undetectable by dealers. Enhancing your throttle response, shifting speed, and gaining you horsepower and torque. Imagine your ECU is like a CD. You are running on track 1 to make your current horsepower. The Auto Flash tool takes you to track 3 which is already on your ECU wakening it up and bringing out the performance you really crave. To prove how these work, we took a 2008 IS350 with its only modifications being a catback exhaust and ran a baseline dyno. Per the instructions, we drove the car for about 80 miles or in this case a full 7 days, and then brought it back in for the after dyno test. With nothing else changed to the car, the dyno, the fuel type, we ran the car again as video tested. The car gain a peak of 40 ft/lbs of torque around 4800 rpm and made a consistant horsepower gain of about 20-25 horsepower from 4100rpm to 6000rpm. Overall this was an excellent test of the Auto Flash tool.
Before we did the final test, we asked the customer what he thought having driven the car for a week. In his words, “…80+ miles now. This was all auto mode, no tiptronic used. Throttle seems much more sensitive. From 0-80mph it flew. I don’t remember the traction control kicking in at the first moment of acceleration or for that long. I could feel the torque wanted to take me a bit offline. Really, it seems with T/C (traction control) on it’s just as aggressive… To sum up, I like what it’s ‘doing’!”

I have a 2014 IS350 F-Sport. Has it been tested on this model or do you have confirmation if the maps work with that model as well?
The units will work on any Lexus IS as they access the files and mapping already in the ECU. For example on the Porsche Panamera, Cayenne, 991, 981 that are PDK transmission, the unit works on all of these 🙂 So yes it will work guaranteed! Order it up!

Andy they work on all Lexus IS ECUs. We have not dyno tested every car but others have. Based on how the Auto Flash works we don’t have to dyno all cars. But it works guaranteed. Buy one, feel the performance, enjoy it.

How much HP & TQ do you expect it to gain on a ISF? I know you stated that there will be gains, but at this point that could be +1HP to +50HP
Why would we waste our time and our name with 1-2 HP. So much mistrust in this industry. I guess you can wait for dynos when the real gains are realized driving as well.

Technically these lock to your VIN. So you cant return them. But we are confident in the product and the manufacture will assist us on a couple if there are any issues. How you would base your results is ambiguous though. I would give you a 30 day return from the day you order it since you asked nice and not like a bananas forum guy! If you are going to dyno it, you need follow some procedures. And I need to know what your satisfaction entails.
I appreciate the quick response. Potentially, I would like to do a before dyno, then two after dynos. I would like to do one initially with ~100 miles, then another with around 500+ miles (or as many miles as possible within the 30 day return policy). My concern is the ECU relearning and reverting back to it’s original mapping. I guess my follow-up question would be, if the power gains do not hold, would the vehicle be capable of “re-flashing”. Have you guys run into an issue with any other vehicle where you find that you must plug the VRTuner into the port every XXXX miles to maintain the power mapping? I hope my questions make sense, sorry if they are confusing. Thanks for your time.
Of course you can flash and unflash the ECU. Its in the instructions. But the ECU does not “lose” the tune. That is forum talk. I will support you on this but I dont have control of the dyno variables. If you dont keep all variables consistant, then your results could show way more power or way less power. Just know that the mileage adaptation is important. In each of the dyno tests we did, we ran the car about 5 times and let the car cool down as well. We tried to make it fail. The IS250 we ran4 times in a row and it kept making power and we stopped when the torque finally started to drop from being to hot. I will support you with this as long as it is reasonable and anything questionable is brought to my attention to help you and not put on witch trial on the forums like someone else did. Dan – a few things:
1. Understand that you are one person claiming that the ECO doesnt “lose” the tune, so we will need evidence of this, evidence coming from forum users, that arent biased and dont have a business interest in the company. Someone running their own Dyno.
2. If it indeed doesnt lose the tune, does that mean you will honor the warranty for more than 30 days? 30 days is hardly a warranty for this kind of product. For example, the Cobb AccessPort for Subaru’s comes with a 12 month warranty. If the car loses the tune as many people believe is what happens due to encryption on the ECU, users will need a good 3-4 months to determine this, or drive the car to another state and back in the first 30 days.
3. MANY companies have tried to do this before Vivid, and have failed terribly. Maybe addressing the reasons why yours works, and offering a better warranty will help in selling these? I for one along with hundreds more on clublexus would purchase one.
The Cobb Accessport does not lose the tune and is a completely different device. The warranty they offer is on the product hardware, not whether an independent dyno is good or not. Cobb has proven their products. They are supporting their hardware if its functionality were to fail. We have sold many of these with success. We know they work, so actually, once the device is connected to your USB port and flashed, it is locked to your VIN and cannot be returned. We have addressed how the flashes work, dyno tested cars here, and shown the results. How that is interpreted and then reposted is out of our control. So where others have done a conventional ECU flash attempt, this is not. Not the answer you want to hear, but we know the devices work and have done all the testing we need to along with the manufacture and their dealer network.

It looks like the GS350 lost 2hp after the tune if you look at the WCF corrected numbers . Can they dyno it again, just to be sure?
Seeing the full graph to show where the gains are is more important because you could have huge gains that are not in the peak register. Unfortunately we dont have that right now. With Correction Factory is set to 1.00 and has to do with smoothing on the mustang dyno chart as well. So the car did make power. We continually show these making power but there will always be someone that wants a different form tested, a retest, a different setting test. End of the day, these work or we would not sell them.

So I’ve got a 2006 IS350, and I’m doing a K&N short air intake and Tanabe Touring catback exhaust. So knowing that this chip increases performance, is my intake and exhaust set up the best approach for the most hp/torque gains? Also, how much additional gain will I likely see?
This would be a perfect combo of upgrades just like the original 2008 IS350 we did in this post. You can see on the dyno the before after gains but most importantly, the overall driveability improved.

Please understand this is a Gearbox tune that accesses PID codes to improve the cars throttle mappings giving you increased performance. We dont test these on each year but they work across the full Lexus platform. This does make power and improve driveability, but is not a conventional ECU tune. I would drive the car for 1000 miles then use this.

Dan I can help you with this, I have a 2010 G37 Sedan seven speed automatic. I did some new upgrades this year I myself install an aam intake manifold with two big bore t.b. made by eps. In conjunction with this when I purchase the car I begin to purchase performance parts, stillen gen 3 intakes and stillen custom exhaust to name a few. In reality I have almost all the bolt ons you can purchase for my car now, except hfc, headers, camshafts, and lower plennum. I even purchase a.p. pulley kit. I have uprev tune in my ecu and its a very conservative tune that only target’s my upgrades, and a/f ratios that needed to be corrected. I have a very conservative tune until I do more mods I will raise the idle rpm but not now. I drove the car without the vr tune upon installing my new uprev tune to see the gains and transmission set point from it. After 2500 miles I decided to install this vr tune just now and let me tell you I have install and uninstall this unit three times and all the times it works the same. I can feel the gains of torque all around my powerband from 2nd,3th,4th, and 5th, I cant reach 6th gear or sevent because Im already doing 130 on 5th and I’m almost near the redline. I don’t reccomend uninstalling it because it’s a risk to be doing it on the freeway you got to be careful and it makes you look like a crazy driver try to hit 170 Plus miles per hour. I Can assure you this is the real deal. It works perfectly and Dan is a good person to do business with.

I am from Sydney Australia 2IS 350 with F sport Intake, high flow cats, catback exhaust and X force mufflers.
Soon I will be install PPE headers and thinking of getting a tune. How does it work, can you mail it out and I plug it in and play. What happens if I want to default back to factory ECU setting, how easy is it to do?
You can either purchase the optional DimSport handheld device which allows you to install the tune or OEM file yourself, or mail your ECU to us so we can flash it on the bench.
