NASA Road Racing with Pics and Video of our 997TT

Just got back from our local Arizona NASA event. I have not been out in 2 years as I got burnt out. So this was fun. I mounted up Project 997TT and headed down there. If you have not see, it is pretty interesting. They utilize the dragstrip which is 5/8 of a mile and then a big sweeping turn to the back side of the bleechers with high speed turns and the treaded wall. I put up some of my VBox data so you could see what we go through below.

Our first was cut short after 20 seconds (for real) cause a Viper with cold tires on a slick track spun into the wall going 30 mph… BUMMER. 2nd session as you see below I had a instructor with me to remind me of the lines. Once you do it, it is liking riding a bike!

The 3rd session Chico and I ran together and I started off on my 2nd lap by hitting 150mph and blowing the first turn… Butt de pucker! Back on a track we headed on the back side. Rumor has it a black and white 997.2TT 🙂 was waiting for us on pit lane and as soon as we past he came to challenge. Not sure if he had slicks or R Compounds or if I am rusty, but he was sticking the turns. Straightaways were different. But that is not how you win road races. With the excitement of this battle and the Michelin PS2’s getting greasy, he won as I blew a turn and went off track. But a handshake was in order and my enjoyment for road racing is back!
