In the world of hot hatches, the MK7 GTI is one of the most popular vehicle around. The EA888 1.8T and 2.0T engines produce tons of low end torque while still producing decent top end power. Pair that engine with a super fast DSG transmission and a great chassis, and you see why the MK7 GTI is so popular. Unfortunately, like many modern turbocharged cars, it lacks all the awesome turbo noises enthusiasts want to hear, thanks to Volkswagen’s use of a quiet BPV system. There is no good location to run a boost line off of, making it impossible to run a boost gauge to the cabin. Luckily, Agency Power has just released two new products which solve both these issues.
The first of these new products is the new BOV/BPV adapter. The OEM turbocharger system on the EA888 engines is a 100% recirculating system. These types of systems reroute all excess boost to the intake box or intake tube before the turbocharger. This new spacer simple spaces the OEM BOV/BPV out and allows the excess boost to vent out the sides of the spacer. By venting the boost to atmosphere instead of recirculating it, that awesome “psh” noise we all love will sound when you let off the throttle while in boost.
The second new product from Agency Power is a boost tap. This is a simple spacer which bolts between the MAP sensor and the intake manifold, and it offers a removable 1/8th NPT fitting you can use for a boost line. This makes it easy to run an aftermarket BOV or BPV, or a dedicated boost gauge.
