Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last ten years, you probably know how popular the R35 GTR is in the performance world. With the rise of roll racing events came the rise of extremely high horsepower, purpose-built R35s. Companies like T1 Race Development are building GTRs with well over 2,000 horsepower with the sole purpose of roll racing and drag racing. With a lot of horsepower, you need a lot of stopping power, and the OEM brakes on the R35 GTR are decent, but you cannot fit 17” wheels on an R35, which is the preferred wheel size of most drag racers, with the OEM brakes. This is where WP Pro comes in with their Drag kit.

Typically a brake upgrade entails using larger rotors and calipers for improved heat dissipation. WP Pro is well known for their big brake kits, but this kit is different because it is physically smaller than the OEM brakes. Even with that smaller size, a properly designed rotor and large pad/rotor contact patch results in great thermal capacity, reducing the chance of brake fade and providing great braking performance. This drag kit, as mentioned above, is designed for the R35 GTR but it’s designed around the use of 17” wheels. The rotor is 345x30mm which is quite large considering it needs to fit under 17” wheels. The calipers are WP Pro’s well known 6-piston EX6 calipers which prove tons of clamping force and also allow for a very large pad/rotor contact patch.

Of course, pads and rotors aren’t everything. Also included in the kit are steel braided brake lines, all the necessary hardware, and the mounting brackets. The standard rotors included with the kit are sun cut, drilled, and slotted rotors, but round, drilled and slotted rotors are also available. If you want to run 17” wheels and still want superb braking performance, the WP Pro drag kit is perfect for you.
