As you probably know, the Ford Bronco and Bronco Sport were met with a lot of criticism upon initial release. Many enthusiasts were hoping for at least one of these new models to include solid axles front and rear, however, neither of them ended up with that feature. The Bronco Sport, specifically, was met with extra criticism for carrying the Bronco name while also sharing the same chassis as a sedan.

Of course, as enthusiasts, we must remember that automotive manufacturers aren’t building their cars to please hardcore off-roaders. They’re building cars to generate a profit, which requires selling a lot of cars to as large of a customer base as possible. To put that simply: stock vehicles are meant to appeal to everyone. To get the performance you want from a Bronco Sport, you need to modify it.

That’s where we decided to step in to develop one of the most important and common mods on any given platform: wheels. The stock Bronco Sport wheels are boring and offer a pretty weak offset. With Vivid Racing’s newest company, VR Forged, we decided to make the Bronco Sport one of the first platforms we take on.

Development Specifically for the Bronco Sport

After carefully determining the best diameter, width, and offset for the Bronco Sport, we created our VR Forged D14 specifically for this new platform. We aimed to create a wheel with “OEM+” style fitment, meaning it’s slightly more aggressive than stock but still mild enough for the average person.

The styling includes the spoked ring with six main spokes in the middle. On our Project Bronco Sport, we used two bronze wheels and two black wheels, giving each side of the vehicle a different look. More importantly, the D14 features our strong fully forged construction, which is significantly stronger than a similar cast wheel.

Wheel strength is important for offroading, where one hard bump can destroy a cheaper cast wheel! With the Bronco Sport just hitting the road, the D14 is one of the first wheels specifically designed for this new platform, and it offers unmatched strength and performance with a strong design and construction.

Our Project Bronco Sport (shown below) is sized in 17×8 at all four corners and finished in a stunning Satin Bronze and Matte Black finish that contrasts the paint job perfectly. We a +30 offset with a 63.4 center bore and 5×108 bolt pattern, which perfectly matches the Bronco Sport. They weigh 9.8 kilograms (21.6 pounds) and have a load rating of 3600 kilograms (7936.6 pounds).
