Just last month, Vivid Racing introduced you to our latest project: the 2020 Ford Raptor. We conducted a full walkaround of the Race Red beauty and took it out on the road to test some of its great features. We also asked you Vivid Racing fans what type of modifications we should do to the brawny off-road beast, and it’s time to show off what we’ve done. While some of these may seem like “common mods” to do, we listened to your comments and are pleased with the end result. The 2020 Raptor was treated to suspension goodies, new VR wheels and tires, and a protective bed cover. First and foremost, we installed the BAKFlip FiberMax Bed Cover from Bak Industries to secure all of your cargo. This BAKFlip cover includes all of the features of a standard aluminum one, but now with a Fiberglass Reinforced Polymer surface, making it dent, scuff, and ding resistant as well as cooler to the touch. The tough aluminum substructure with robust hinge design and patented slam latch system make the FiberMax a super dependable and easy-to-use bed cover built to outlast the competition. Simply fold the cover up to the cab for full bed access without having to remove it. Rubber bumpers protect the cab from impact, while the rails collect and guide water to the front of the bed where it is emptied through drainage tubes.
Next up is the Hellwig Rear Sway Bar Kit, which is the best aftermarket investment you can make for the money. Hellwig sway bars are an extremely effective handling upgrade that can transform your driving experience and enhance your Raptor’s ride quality. While most vehicles today already come equipped with factory-installed sway bars, they often prove insufficient to handle some owners’ load and towing demands. These sway bars feature larger-than-stock diameters and are precision engineered to optimize handling and minimize body roll. As soon as you install this kit, you will feel an immediate improvement when driving around the first corner. Plus, installation is a breeze as these sway bars are a direct bolt-on install.
Then, we put on an ICON Leveling Spacer Kit which allows you to adjust the ride height from 0.5 to 2 inches! CNC machined 6061 billet aluminum construction and a black anodized finish make this kit a must-have in terms of strength and its ability to stand up to the test of time even in the harshest off-road conditions. This package includes ICON’s Attitude Adjustment Collar (AAC), an industry-first, patent-pending multi-height coil spring collar that works in conjunction with a top-load shim that can be configured in five unique ways to yield the aforementioned height range. Not only does this leveling system achieve your ideal life height but it also keeps the OE shock in the ride zone to maintain a factory ride as not to compromise comfort levels.
Finally, we treated our Ford Raptor project truck to a set of our very own VR Forged D02 one-piece monoblock wheels that are super lightweight and ultra-strong. They measure 20×9 with a +12 offset and are wrapped in a set of Toyo Open Country MT 37-inch tires. The rugged and durable matte black finish on the D02s contrasts the factory Race Red paint job on this Raptor while giving it that added off-road appeal. And the Toyo rubbers deliver maximum off-road traction in any terrain with great on-road performance to boot. The Open Country MT Series features a 3-ply construction for superior durability and impact resistance in addition to an over-the-shoulder tread design for traction in deep mud and snow.
