By now, chances are that you have already come across a couple of our 2020 Ford Raptor project videos. We just keep upping the ante on this bad boy to take things to the ultimate level. And now, this project truck was treated to an intercooler upgrade and a set of bigger turbos to really unleash the true power potential of this well-regarded pickup. Check out the video below to see our baseline dyno runs to see how much power the Raptor’s got stock – the only mods thus far have been a muffler system, VR Tuned ECU flash, with VR Forged wheels and 37-inch tires. Then, watch as we show off the goodies, install them, and throw it on the dyno again to see the results. Garrett is home to probably some of the fastest vehicles in the world and it’s not hard to see why we chose this company to work with for our project Raptor. The Garrett front-mount intercooler can support up to 750 horsepower, all while using the stock bolts, hoses, and clamps. It’s a direct-fit for the Ford F-150 and Raptor, making installation a pleasant experience. The Garrett charge air cooler boasts an 83 percent larger core than Ford’s stock one to provide approximately a 25-degree Fahrenheit reduction in air temperature as well as a 30 percent reduction in pressure drop. It’s equipped with optimized end tanks that greatly improve airflow through the core by way of enhanced turbulent design features found in the stock unit.
We also gave the Ford Raptor project a set of bigger turbos from Garrett. The Garrett PowerMax Stage 2 turbocharger upgrade for the Ford F-150 Raptor platform is expertly engineered to heighten its engine performance capability while maintaining a simple OEM-like install. This direct drop-in upgrade provides 54 percent more flow than from the factory and will support up to 700+ BHP. Turbine flow is also increased by 52 percent with a 50mm Iconel turbine wheel and larger turbine housing. The turbocharger kit is complete and comes fully assembled, calibrated, and interchangeable with the OE hardware to guarantee a seamless and perfect fit.
