Ansa Exhaust Gaskets

An exhaust flange gasket is a round gasket commonly referred to as a donut gasket. In the simplest of terms, the gasket helps your engine breathe. Depending on your engine and vehicle type, the exhaust manifold can either be a set of pipes or a cast iron manifold assembly. Essentially the exhaust manifold takes the burned exhaust gases from the cylinders and ejects the gas through the exhaust system and out through the tail pipes. The purpose of the gasket is to seal the surface of the manifold to the cylinder head, preventing leaks in the system.

As time passes, the constant expansion and contraction of the components may cause the exhaust gasket to leak. This is commonly due to the constant heating and cooling in the engine. These hazardous leaks need to be recognized and serviced accordingly, as hot exhaust gases escape and can damage other components in the engine compartment. In addition, a leaky exhaust manifold gasket can impact your vehicle’s engine performance.

The material that an exhaust gasket is manufactured from is required to withstand extreme heat and pressure. Many gaskets are made of woken strands of fire-resistant material, like asbestos. The gasket is forced between two surfaces of the exhaust (as mentioned above) to fill any spaces that could allow the exhaust to escape from the system. A gasket that has gone bad will let you know this by creating an engine sound that ranges from a ticking noise to a very loud roar. This all depends on how severe the void is, and should not be ignored. Apart from being aggravating to listen to, the bad gasket, if not changed, can rob your engine of power and damage components in it like the exhaust valves.

Most donut gaskets are heavy-duty and fire-resistant; however, there are many other types out there to consider. Flexible graphite gaskets can withstand high temperatures, as well as reduce warping and the need for re-torqueing. Some gaskets contain rubber, which can burn out when you expose it to heat, therefore creating a warped gasket that may allow exhaust leaks. In addition, there are metal gasket rings and composite gaskets that feature a combination of materials including steel.

Gaskets look different depending on your vehicle’s make and model. Depending on the type of car you drive, you will either see round, triangular, or oval-shaped designs with holes on either end for bolts. Since donut gaskets are dependent on what you drive, you must choose the part that works for your specific car. Feel free to contact us for help during the purchase process at 1-480-966-3040. From its humble beginnings in a small workshop in the Emilia region of Italy, ANSA was founded on one man’s love affair with Italian dream cars. Originally designing exhaust systems for the Ferrari racing scene, the small family business eventually expanded its European reach and range to cover the most sought after sports cars of the 1960′s and 70′s.

The early 1970′s brought ANSA SPORT products to the U.S.through several established “foreign car parts” importers. Then hard-to-find parts for the growing import car population were welcomed by the import parts specialists and sports car enthusiasts of that time. Its early U.S. success prompted the Italian company to establish a distribution center in south Georgia, allowing ANSA products to be readily available for shipment to distributors nationwide. Customer needs eventually led to the company’s introduction of its ANSA Replacement Exhaust line – and an expansion into other import makes and models. Today, in addition to its flagship ANSA SPORT product line, the company offers an extensive selection of replacement exhaust parts covering everything from Acura to Volkswagen – and virtually anything in between.

With the sport compact trend of combining polished stainless steel exhaust systems with a more aggressive sound, the company introduced Silverline exhaust systems and universal mufflers and tips for the sport compact market. This was quickly followed in the early 2000′s with the introduction of its performance exhaust systems for light diesel trucks. The company’s expertise in performance exhaust allowed for the development of a high performance system for the niche Diesel Performance market – and the product quickly gained a following. Today, the company offers an extensive choice of systems and material options – including a complete stack conversion kit for light diesel trucks.

From Ferrari, to Honda, from BMW to Dodge , ANSA Automotive is your one-stop shop for all exhaust system products, whether you are a distributor, speed shop, import car specialist or vehicle owner.
