Cold Air Intake Deal Page

Every internal combustion engine effectively acts as a large air pump. Air needs to get in, combustion occurs, and then air needs to get out. The job of your intake system is to provide a steady stream of clean air for the engine to mix with fuel and ultimately combust to make power.

The intake system is typically comprised of a filter housing that holds some sort of air filter, and a tube to direct the filtered air to the throttle body, where it's pulled into the intake manifold and into the engine. The large majority of vehicles use a single intake system, but many high-performance applications use two intakes to increase airflow.

The reason for upgrading to an aftermarket cold air intake is simple: to increase power. Your OEM air filter is incredibly cheap and often times it's very restrictive. On top of that, many OEM air filters provide poor filtration which leads to small dust particles getting into your engine, ultimately decreasing the life of your engine.

By replacing your OEM filter with an aftermarket filter, you can reduce any airflow restrictions while also maintaining superb air filtration. Many aftermarket intakes have a larger surface area compared to an OEM intake, which improves the airflow even further.

Unfortunately, not all cold air intakes are created equal. Hot air is less oxygen dense than cold air and is more likely to cause detonation. A high-quality cold air intake will include an air box which forces the intake system to pull air from outside the vehicle, rather than sucking in the hot air in the engine bay.
