The wait is almost over! We just received word from Magnuson Superchargers that the TVS1320 Supercharger System for the 2020-2022 Toyota 4Runner will become available soon. Thanks to Magnuson’s partners over at VF Tuner, they have made significant progress in developing this highly sought-after package. This system has been in the making for a while now and Toyota enthusiasts have been inquiring about the Magnuson Supercharger for the 4Runner for quite some time now on the forums. Many have emailed the company and received a response regarding the advancements made and noting that there is no availability date just yet.
Magnuson has been working hard on developing the proper calibration and tuning for the new Toyota 4Runner and is excited to announce that its release is nearing! While the engine and installation for the 2020-2022 models are the same as the 2019 and earlier 4Runner, the computer’s architecture has changed and requires unlocking and re-programming, said Magnuson. In the meantime, you can take a closer look at the last-generation Magnuson TVS1320 Supercharger System for the 2010-2019 Toyota 4Runner. You may recall that we supercharged the 4Runner with this kit and did a full off-road test of it, which you can see here. This supercharger kit is a complete bolt-on install that delivers 30 percent more horsepower than stock and an additional 28 percent more torque output at just 6psi of boost. That means the 4Runner goes from 270 horsepower to 350+ horsepower and from 278 pound-feet to 355+ pound-feet of torque. This puts the power output of the 4.0-liter V6 4Runner closer to that of a V8 and also significantly improves its towing ability. After all, one of the biggest complaints about the Toyota 4 Runner is how underpowered its engine is and that it should have come with a V8 straight from the factory.
