When the newest generation Honda Civic Type-R hit the market and was made available to the US, every JDM fanboy jumped for joy. It was not too long before aftermarket parts started rolling out. The factory exhaust that came attached to the turbocharged K20 seemed too restrictive and muffled sounding. With Tomei being very prominent in the Japanese tuner community, it was a matter of time before a high-end exhaust system was released.
Compiling of titanium sourced from Tomei themselves, this exhaust is covered in beautiful pie cuts, precision TIG welds, and ingenuity. Exhaust systems can also save an astonishing amount of weight by using titanium. The three different exhaust systems offered Tomei range from 15.4 lbs. to 29.3 lbs which is less than a single wheel in most cases. Incorporated throughout this system are springs specifically designed to help ease the vibrations that naturally happen within the vehicle.
Even though this system is lighter than factory, it is most certainly no slouch! Tomei upped the piping from 2.38 inches stock to 3.15 inches and increased the tip size by 5 millimeters. With the larger piping and tips, this allows the turbo to spool faster, thus giving more response in lower-mid rpm range which is where this 2.0 engine shines.
