As Americans, we know of the Integra being adorned with the Acura emblem; in other parts of the world, however, the car is sold and badged as a Honda. This all has to do with the intended purpose of the Integra as a sportier, more upscale alternative to the Civic. When the GS-R model was introduced, it housed some revolutionary technology under the hood of the sport compact car. It was the second vehicle imported to the U.S. to feature VTEC – the first was the NSX.
The Integra Grand Sport Racing was available in both hatchback and sedan variants. Equipped with the B18C1 DOHC VTEC engine, it delivered 170 horsepower (127 kW) and 128 pound-feet of torque (174 Nm). The GS-R was also treated to some other exclusive performance goodies like better tires, up-rated struts, a stiffer anti-roll bar, and a shorter final drive ratio.
Of course, the aftermarket still houses an impressive amount of parts for the Integra, as it remains a highly popular car for modding. Our customer, Humberto Alemán (IG: @betodb8), recently purchased a set of Spoon Sports calipers and rotors for his 2000 Acura Integra GSR. Humberto’s 2000 Acura Integra GS-R is super clean and has been treated to a number of DB8 Type-R parts. The stunning Clover Green Pearl makes it stand out all on its own, but the 5zigen Pro Racer GN+ wheels give it that added oomph. And behind those fresh wheels are the beautiful Spoon Sports blue monoblock 4-piston calipers paired with their 16-inch brake rotors.
Unlike other 4-piston calipers, Spoon calipers are a direct fit and designed to work with your car’s stock braking system, including the ABS. Spoon Sports calipers use stock Honda-sized brake pads, which give users incredible flexibility in choosing pads and controlling future costs. The 4-pot calipers significantly improve both high-speed braking and brake pedal feel and are consistent during track use. The design of these calipers also evens out brake pad wear and minimizes rotor warpage. Speaking of rotors, these Spoon Sports rotors pair specifically with the monoblock calipers for a match made in heaven.
