Hello,
Like the fabled conquistadors of old I went into Mexico City with only one hope, to wreck shop and give the natives crazy diseases……
Not really but I did go down to work on some crazy ass cars. Well really only one crazy ass car. This customers had me come down to work on a fully raced out Evo. This thing was no joke by any means. I know that when most Americans think of Mexican cars we think of Dodge Neons with a giant wing on it and stickers and small wheels. But this thing was one of best put together race cars I have ever seen. Car was rolling on 18×11 HRE’s and 6 piston Brembo monoblock’s. For those that don’t know what that means don’t ask cause you can’t and will never be able to afford it.
The basic engine setup goes like this:
FULL Cosworth Long Block- IE Head, Cams, Block, Murder she wrote.
GT35R
IC Pipes
TBE
EBC
The usual stuff. The only downfall of this whole car is that it was still on the stock ECU. Now I know there is a camp of people out there that think the stock ECU is the end all to ECU’s in an Evo, but putone in a full race car and tell me the same thing. This car picked up all the noise of the motor and all components like it was no thing. So they are going to switch to an AEM EMS ( Eric if you read this I know you hate them but I ‘ tune F-Cons so leave me alone). This thing will do much better with a better engine management.
Now on to some pictures:
Yours truly looking the part of the bad ass tuner.
On track:
That is me passenger side with the helmet. Let me tell you no solid data acquisition SUCKS!! One more reason to go to a standalone or something with a better DA setup. I don’t want to have to sit in the car and log I would rather be on the sideline drinking a cerveza and safe lol.
This one is of me working on a car. I bet you can guess which one I am.
This is my favorite pics. This is what I like to call defeated Mitch. Now let me tell you why I was defeated. The last couple of laps we were doing we developed a very strange misfire. So I said ” Lets go into pit and check it out..” oh and also ” Porque is the idle so high?”
Well we sucked in a little screw from a crap throttle body ( KU Engineering?) and that was that. Messed up the motor pretty good. So until next time this is where this car stands. They are going to change some parts and go to the AEM EMS and really start to smack down on some Porsche’s. ( Or at least we hope)
Until next time kiddies,
Mitch Mckee
