The high-output 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine on the Gen 2 Ford Raptor (2017-2021) produces 450 horsepower at 5850 RPM and 510 pound-feet of torque at 3000 RPM. While the second-generation Ford Raptor truck starts out with more horsepower and torque than its predecessor, it can certainly use some improvement. With some help from Vivid Racing by way of our new VR Performance Valvetronic Exhaust, your Gen 2 Raptor will enjoy improved airflow, an enhanced soundtrack, and better performance overall.
After all, improving the sound is especially something that every EcoBoost owner wants in their truck. That’s because, unlike the 6.2-liter V8, the EcoBoost model lacks that tantalizing growl that Raptor owners are looking for. Some aftermarket exhausts try to improve the sound by having straight open pipes, but all this does it create a large amount of unwanted drone for daily drivers. That’s why VR Performance has developed the best solution for a catback system on the Ford Raptor 3.5-liter EcoBoost truck.

To give Raptor owners a louder and more free-flowing tone paired with a more comfortable exhaust note for cruising, VR Performance created its Valvetronic catback system. With just the push of a button, drivers can control the opening and closing of the electronic valves to change the direction of exhaust flow and ultimately change the sound coming from the system. The Valvetronic system requires running a wire from the exhaust valve up into the cabin of your truck. It is up to the owner to use the included 12-volt plug or wire it directly into the ignition power on the fuse box. This kit includes two remote keyfobs to open and close the valves at your discretion, as well as all the necessary hardware for a seamless installation.

The VR Performance Valvetronic Exhaust System for the Gen 2 Raptor has been designed in-house right here in Gilbert, Arizona using the latest 3D scanning and modeling techniques. A prototype was built and tested on our very own 2020 Ford Raptor with over 10,000 miles of use. This system is crafted from the highest-quality stainless steel and has been TIG welded and then bead blasted for a durable and unique finish. The complete catback is made up of two parts with the first section featuring the Valvetronic component. From the downpipes, we connect using an OEM size 2.75-inch slip fit connector on the passenger side and donut gasket on the right. The piping then changes to 3 inches for the best possible flow and intense sound when the valves are open. Don’t worry though; because the sound is still improved when the valves are closed, it’s just tamer. The muffler connects with slip-fit connectors using 2.75 piping. What’s more, this exhaust is designed to use the Raptor’s OEM rear-over-axle tip sections.
