Volk Racing Wheels from Japan are one of the most popular wheels available for Japanese vehicles. A fully forged wheel is extremely lightweight and strong. One of the biggest benefits of a forged wheel is weight savings. The most popular 1 piece wheels on the market are Method and Fuel. These are great wheels and a bargain at around $800-$1000 for a set of 4. Typical 18×9 wheels weigh about 30.60lbs per wheel where the 20×9 weighs 37.00lbs per wheel. Comparing to the Volk TE37, a set of 4 of these wheels ranges between $3000-$4000 depending on if it is 18″ or 20″. The Volk Racing TE37 18×9 wheel weighs 19lbs and the 20×9.5 weighs 25.5lbs. Stock TRD 18″ wheels weigh about 30lbs each. Where the limited wheels weigh about 37lbs each.
Saving rotational weight usually counts as a factory of 3. So if the stock 18″ TRD wheel weighs 30lbs and you go with a Method 18″ wheel, you are at the same weight. However if you go with a Volk Racing TE37 forged wheel, you are saving about 11lbs per corner of dead weight or rotational weight of 33lbs per corner! You want to talk about improving towing and horsepower! Even with the 20×9 wheels you save 4.5lbs per corner of dead weight or 13.5lbs of rotational weight per corner.
