With the recent addition to our Project Car family, the Cosworth Subaru STI is pretty much complete. With every possible bolt on product from Cosworth including their big brake upgrade, stand alone ECU, and even a custom intake manifold, this Subaru STI is ready for track action. However, someone said, “how is this a project car since it is already built?” Simple, we will add some Vivid flavor to it giving the STI a new stance, more horsepower, and some added style.
Our first simple mod is from experience. On our Project 997 TT, BMW M5, and Ferrari 360, we have upgraded the steering wheel to give a more ergonomic feel behind the wheel. Not only do these aftermarket steering wheels give the hand positioning more comfort while driving, they look damn good too! So in this the STI we added the GTSpec Carbon Fiber and Leather flat bottom steering wheel for the Subaru. This is a direct replacement for the OEM round wheel that also retains the airbag. Having the flat bottom allows for taller or bigger people to not have leg clearance issues. The 3 and 9 o’clock hand positions are thickened up for more comfort as well. If you dig this STI steering wheel, check out the GTSpec Steering Wheels Here.
I actually like the look of that flat bottom wheel. That red color is sick as well.
