What is Flow forming?

Flow Forming Technology uses the application of pressure to the inner barrel of the wheel while spinning at high speed after casting to form and complete the lightweight barrel. This process shares similarities to those found in the forging process in which the aluminum molecules are compressed resulting in a stronger, lighter wheel. During flow forming, the work piece is cold worked, changing its mechanical properties, so its strength becomes similar to that of forged metal.
