Our durable urethane rubber insert simply slides in to fill and fortify the empty voids of the OEM mount, preventing premature bushing wear and undesirable transmission movement, all while transmitting minimal added noise and vibration.
Installation can be completed in about 1-hour. Pressing out the stock transmission mount bushing is NOT necessary, since the insert halves slide in from either side and are then held in place by the transmission support brackets upon reassembly.

The substandard plastic bushings and pivot connections utilized in the shifter assembly of many stock Porsches are responsible for the subpar shifting performance. Due to the loose tolerances and free play required by these bushings to prevent binding, they result in a sloppy shifter feel. Moreover, their plastic and rubber construction flex excessively, resulting in spongy gear engagement, especially in vehicles with accumulated wear and tear over the years. Function-First Performance also replaces the rubber and plastic internals of the OEM shifter cable ends with aluminum and Delrin components that are securely held in place by steel snap rings. In addition, the included cotter pins offer safety redundancy to ensure that the cables remain firmly attached to the transmission. The result is superior shifting feel, precision, and control, with no added NVH and no possibility of cable ends detaching.
Moreover, the Shift-right replaces plastic bushings with ball bearings, thereby eliminating the flex and excess play that typically plague the standard setup. As a result, shifter feel is sharpened and gear engagement is assured. The Retrofit Kit consists of custom-machined aluminum components and heavy-duty ball bearings in order to completely upgrade the factory shifter assembly. Furthermore, the shifter yoke's tight tolerances tighten the shifter's lateral movement. With this setup, the OEM shift lever and cradle are retained so that the shifter throw remains unchanged and the factory fit is maintained. The OEM shift knob is compatible with this setup.
