When it comes to the batteries and electrical system of your vehicle, awareness is strength. It's the life and soul of the trip. The last thing you want is to get a dead battery left vulnerable and stranded in the middle of the road. The further you understand about your electrical device and batteries, the less prone you will get trapped. We're here at Vivid Racing to make you know exactly what's going on with the batteries, electrical device, and specifications that your car requires for a decent and healthy ride to continue your journey.
The battery is an electrochemical unit that holds the electrical energy needed to run the starter motor and ignition and fuel injection components when the engine is powered; drives accessories such as the radio when the engine is off and supplies extra current when the electrical system needs outweigh what can be generated by the charging system. The battery controls the clock and retains part memory even though the car is not in operation.
Conventional Flooded Lead-Acid (FLA) batteries consist of plates soaked in water and sulfuric acid electrolyte solutions. The positive plates, covered with lead dioxide (PbO2), and the negative plates, coated with sponge lead (Pb), form a cell component together, and there are 6 in a 12-volt battery. These batteries regularly need water absorption to the cells and have been supplanted by batteries from FLA Maintenance-Free and Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM).
It is often frustrating to get stuck in an unknown location with a dead battery, but getting lost in the middle of winter with a dead battery can be risky. Fortunately, batteries typically send us a few warning signals that they're going to malfunction, so before you're stuck, you can get a new battery.
1. Dim Headlights
If the car battery fails, it won't be able to completely control your engine's electronic systems, including the headlights. Pay attention if you find that your headlights appear dim and weaker than normal! Not only is the diminished light a safety problem, but it also indicates that your car battery is nearly dead.
2. Slow Engine Crank
Drivers are closely connected to their cars' usual sounds. If you find that when you turn the switch, your engine cranks quite slowly or incredibly slowly than usual, your battery could be near its demise. Don't let this red flag be missed!
It's one danger sign that you can't ignore! A car battery that fails will cause occasional sparks. These intermittent sparks will result in the cylinders collecting fuel. When this built-up fuel ignites, it unexpectedly ignites and causes the vehicle to backfire with added power. Bear in mind that backfiring can result from many different issues, so here the main part here is the battery test.
While they need less maintenance, FLA Maintenance-Free batteries are vulnerable to acid spillage if the case bursts. There is also no maintenance required for our batteries here in our digital store, but they keep the electrolyte in a sponge-like matting, and no electrolyte can spill out if the case fractures. Our replacement batteries have many other benefits, such as no gas or water leakage, reduced internal resistance for quicker loading, more plate area for better starting capacity, resistance to impact loads, making them suitable for off-road use and racing, and long lifetime. The batteries we sell deliver at your door, completely charged and ready to mount.
It is also possible to classify batteries according to scale, specification, and ranking. The BCI Group Number states the performance characteristics of the battery. L terminals, top, side, or pot may be the terminals that link the battery to the electrical system. Batteries are classified in many ways, but the most critical ones to know are Reserve Power and Cold Cranking Amps (CCA). CCA is the maximum current that can be provided by the battery at 0ºF for 30 seconds without the need for a voltage drop below 7.2V. Reserve capacity is the amount of period a completely charged battery discharges at 80ºF at 25 amps before the voltage decreases below 10.5V.
You should have a battery with a high amount of CCA if you reside in a very cold place, and with all the technologies on modern cars that draw current with the key off, a high ratio of reserve power is also critical. The above relates to our starting and deep cycle batteries, but we also hold batteries and related accessories with all the more common hybrid cars. These batteries are fully remanufactured, updated to enhance identified trouble areas where appropriate, rigorously examined, priced accordingly, and shipped ready for installation to your door. Like converter and inverter systems and battery cooling fans, we also sell similar hybrid drive components.
From fitment help from our in-house experts to shipping packages, we'll take care of you and your Batteries every step of the way. We know how much of a financial investment you're making in a set of Batteries or accessories and upgrades. In return, we'll deliver service and product that is second to none.
