So, here's the deal—APR has finally rolled out their K04 upgrade kit for those transversely mounted VW engines, and let me tell you, it’s about time! This kit comes loaded with everything you need to make a serious difference in your ride's performance. You’re getting the K04 turbo, a compressor inlet O-ring, four turbo outlet studs, a manifold to turbo gasket, a 4-bar fuel pressure regulator, and a turbo to downturn gasket. It’s a pretty straightforward swap, and trust me, the boost in power is nothing short of impressive.
With just an exhaust upgrade, this kit cranked out 242 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque on 91 octane and even hit 245 hp and 275 lb-ft on 93 octane. And just to be clear, you don’t need to modify anything else to get those numbers. It’s all about that turbo magic!
What You Get
- Cast stainless steel exhaust manifold and turbine housing for durability.
- CNC-machined billet aluminum compressor wheel—lightweight and efficient.
- Weighs in at 31 lbs, so it’s not going to weigh your ride down.
- Includes two normal M12 and M14 crush washers for a solid fit.
Important Notes
Just a heads-up: this kit is not street legal in California yet, but APR is working on it. They’re in the process of getting it tested to meet CARB standards. So, if you’re in California, hang tight!
