The BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 is a high-quality and performance off-road maximum traction tire optimized for SUVs, 4x4s, trucks, and jeeps. The KM2 second generation boasts a larger footprint, improved stability, even deep snow, and a faster, quieter ride than its predecessor.
An off-road treadmill and Krawler T/A KX-inspired tread incorporate rigid-flex zones and individual treadmills to offer this tire the potential to cross anything in its direction. The linear flex zones enable the tire to accentuate itself with the obstacles it crosses, allowing even the rockiest territories to be crossed while aired out. The side advantage of the KM2 tread system is that it allows for a smoother workout, with which we believe BFG has done a decent job.
The BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2, known as BFGoodrich's 2nd generation KM tire, is an off-road Maximum Traction tire built for off-roaders operating full-size, elevated trucks that engage in mountain climbing and other demanding off-road riding. The Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 is constructed from mud to conquer almost every obstruction in its way by incorporating more excellent stability and mud-clearing capability than its predecessor with a better trip and less ground noise than is usually required from an active tire.
The Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 sculpts an off-road tread into a Krawler T/A KX-inspired symmetrical design that contains firm, self-cleaning, standalone tread and linear transverse flex areas that provide the elastic properties required to allow the tire to adapt to off-road obstacles when circulated and powered at low speeds.
The tire's inner structure comprises twin steel belts and BFGoodrich's Krawler TEK sidewalls and housing. The Krawler TEK consists of three main parts, including aggressive sidewall lugs, cut-and chip-resistant sidewall substances, and the BFGoodrich TriGard case - three-ply polyester development.
More immense voids improve self-cleaning capability with this configuration of the tray than its ancestor. Heavy-duty sidewall lugs offer enhanced stability when climbing cliffs, while a cracking-resistant compound provides more excellent overall protection to sidewall bruising. BFGoodrich has provided sidewall cords built into the tray to have 33 percent more power than the first KM edition.
These developments make for more pinch and sidewall security and improved strength and cracking resistance caused by rocks and rugged paths. Single-strand beads composed of a single-strand bead wire are continually wrapped several times until the desired strength is achieved. It also strengthens the tire match to the wheel to increase standardization and ride consistency.
Although Off-Road Maximum Traction tires, also referred to as mud tires, are labeled with an M+S sign and are capable of running through icy conditions, their traditional oversized installations and the lack of snow-biting sips in their big, smooth lugs may threaten their winter-time on-road traction on packed snow and ice surfaces.
