Michelin's Highway All-Season tire, the Defender LTX, was designed to integrate long tread life with all-season capability for pickups, vans, and sport utility vehicles, and also shuttles commercial vans and chassis cab vehicles that use heavy-duty, light-truck sizes. The Defender LTX is built to provide a smooth, quiet ride while also providing year-round traction in dry, wet, and wintry situations, including light snow.
The new Defender LTX tires have the same beneficial tread design as the famous Michelin LTX M/S2 tires they replace, but they have improved wear life/longevity to meet or exceed the needs of the modern trucks effectively. Defender LTX is built to be tougher and last longer.
Michelin Evertread compound is used in the Defender LTX tires, a more sophisticated compound that can withstand harsher conditions for longer. This compound is shaped into a symmetric tread pattern with strong independent tread blocks and high-density 3-D Active Sipes for all-season grip on dry and wet conditions.
Wet traction and stopping capabilities are improved thanks to four large circumferential channels, several lateral grooves, and accessible shoulder slots that aid lateral water drainage. Michelin's MaxTouch Construction is used in the tire's profile to create a contact patch that uniformly distributes accelerating, braking, and cornering forces, resulting in reliable traction and extended wear.
It's not easy to replace a high-performance tire like the LTX, but that's quite what the 2015 Michelin Defender LTX has been built to achieve. The Defender LTX, designed for full-size trucks and SUVs, incorporates the greatest features of the original Defender passenger car with much the same tread pattern and tread depth as the truck/SUV LTX. Michelin's Evertread technology is used in an all-season tread compound designed to prevent wear and tear in harsh road conditions while still performing well under larger workloads.
According to the company, this new tread will last up to 10% better than the original LTX M/S2, which is quite outstanding in and of itself. According to the test findings, the new Defender LTX handles greater weights and lasts longer than several of the finest tires in its class.

The tread has four wide circumferential grooves and full-depth sipes for added traction in wet and snowy conditions. While the traction and durability of this type are amazing, the ride is also smoother and quieter than you might think. There is no noise from the tread pattern, which is common on uneven or grooved pavement. The ride comfort is superior to that of the earlier M/S2.
Michelin's MaxTouch Construction is used inside the tire to more equally transmit the stresses of acceleration, braking, and cornering, resulting in higher rolling resistance and prolonged tread life. Vary according to the size. The Defender LTX comes with either a BSW or an OWL. Depending on the speed rating, the tread is assured for up to 70K miles.
