What Makes the Forgestar S18 Drag Pack Special?

The S18 Drag Series Wheel is what you get when you let the design team have a day out on the track with their drawing pads. The high quality, 18-spoke criss-cross mesh design and unique rotary forged flow construction are designed to deliver a cast aluminum wheel that has the strength and impact resistance of its forged counterpart. The important differences are that it is lighter in weight and cheaper, both at the time of purchase and at the gas pump.

This unusual and attractive look is achieved by spinning the Forgestar S18 Drag Series wheel with a Computer Numerical Control lathe, which precisely cuts a very fine layer of metal to reveal a bright, shiny polished surface. Applying a custom paint job to the wheel prior to lathing is a very intense method of personalizing your wheel.

Forgestar Rotary Forging Method

Flow Forming is a production procedure that turns the wheel (or rim section) over a special mandrel and three hydraulic rollers using tremendous pressure. The pressure and turning then force the rim area to form against the mandrel, creating the shape and width of the rim. During Flow Forming, the rim "flows" down to create the full rim width. 

During Flow Forming, the pressure applied to the cast rim changes its mechanical properties, so its strength and impact values become similar to those of a forged rim. That translates to up to 15% less weight when compared to a standard cast wheel. 

Forgeline’s technological breakthroughs in heat treating allow them to increase dent resistance without having to make the wheel heavier.
