Groove stepping regulates tread blocks to help driving while preserving the void essential for traction on rough terrain, and firm shoulders enable confident highway tracking. Deep tread depths, broad circumferential grooves, and open shoulder grooves assist drain water away from the contact area, preventing hydroplaning. At the same time, in-block sipes provide the biting edges needed for grip on slick surfaces or compacted snow. Bridgestone's Grip Claw Technology helps grind through icy conditions or dirt, while staggered shoulder lugs include 3D steps to hunt out any possible traction in soft terrain.
The Dueler A/T Revo 3 is built tough, with a two-ply polyester casing sandwiched between two wide, high-strength steel belts that reinforce and support the tread. A nylon reinforcing ply improves handling responsiveness while also boosting durability and allowing for higher speeds.
It's easy to get wrapped up in an all-terrain tire's adventurous possibilities and ignore its day-to-day qualities. However, the preponderance of all-terrain tire customers will spend most of their driving time on the road, where comfort is critical. The REVO 3 isn't quite equivalent to road-focused SUV/truck all-season tires like the Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza Plus, according to Bridgestone's internal assessments.
