WHAT IS PREPREG CARBON FIBER?

At a manufacturing facility, the fiber is pre-impregnated with resin, rolled onto spools, and frozen to prevent the resin from curing prematurely. This material is then cut to the proper thickness and hand-laid into a mold, where it is cured at strictly controlled temperatures. This process produces a laminate with a precisely controlled resin volume that is 20?30% stiffer and stronger than a wet laminate process of equivalent thickness. Prepreg is widely regarded as the best method for manufacturing carbon fiber and has been used in aerospace and military applications due to its superior consistency in weight, thickness, fitment, resin, carbon layout, and overall quality. The pre-impregnated (prepreg) fiber method results in stiffer, stronger laminates that are controllable and predictable. The result is a consistent, tight fiber weave that not only looks great, but also adds strength. This ensures that their customers receive components that not only look good when the vehicle is stationary, but also do not crack, warp, fall off, or fade after six months or while driving at high speeds.
