Start by securely positioning the brake pads in the caliper.
Check your brake fluid levels and flush or replace as necessary.

Examine the rotor for any deep grooves or scoring; resurface or replace as needed.
If your rotors don’t need resurfacing, remove any contamination from previous pads by sanding with 130-grit sandpaper. Clean the rotor surface with soap and water afterward to ensure it’s free of oil, grease, and brake fluid.
Finally, inspect the calipers to ensure they move freely and lubricate where necessary.
