Who is MSD Ignition?

MSD Ignition started back in 1970. Based in El Paso Texas, the company is known for creating quality ignition systems for various automobiles. Today, they are considered the leading company when it comes to the ignition system and has become a brand recognized all over the world.

Changing the Way Vehicles are Made

MSD has helped shape the automotive industry by being the first company in the world to conduct an experiment regarding Multiple Spark Discharge for a vehicle’s ignition system. It has been suggested by Engineers who were working on the White Sands Missile Range in Southern Mexico. They noticed that their quest for power is limited by the amount of spark the ignition system can only generate. Hence, the idea of Multi Spark Discharge.

Racing Application

Soon after the product introduction, racers started applying it to their race cars. Due to its success, other top teams started using MSD which helped paved the way for the brand’s popularity. The majority of the race engines today use MSD and have proven to produce race champions.
