It's a small screw-on cap that's often made of plastic. It's one of several items that are part of changing the oil. If you open the hood, you'll find the oil filler cap on top of or near a valve cover. It's usually on the driver's side of the engine bay. The oil filler cap seals the oil fill opening, which is where you pour the motor oil. Some oil filler caps have "engine oil" or some variation written on them. In other words, the oil filler cap is the cap you remove when adding fresh oil to the engine.
